Yes please, I want them all right now…

It will be interesting to read new versions of Android Planet and Pheonix of Megaron. I always felt that those books were a little off in some way, that they didn’t quite fit with the rest of the story. It is probably more to do with the different writing styles of the authors than anything else. I might have to sit down and re-read them to get them more firmly in my mind again so I can make comparisons when the new versions are released. 🙂

Thanks again Powys, it looks like you have been hard at work and will be for some time to come.

Hi Powys, What sort of stories? Hmm, you seem to have covered most of the examples in the poll. I have enjoyed each of the story types so far. A good mix is probably what I enjoy most.
I can take the short stories away when I travel and read a story as time allows.
The series of books are also good provided there isn’t too long a gap between book releases, I don’t want to wait a year for part two and then another year for book three etc…
The stand alone novels are also good, I have enjoyed each and every book so far. Probably because the novelty of having something new in the Space 1999 universe hasn’t worn off yet…
I think as long as there are regular releases of books I really don’t care what format they are, as long as they keep coming. :cheer:

I don’t know if I’d like to read the books before they’re finished. I can see the sense of it though. I’d be afraid all of my favourite parts would be cut out 🙁
Besides, reading with a deadline can’t be fun. If I had to do that it would be too much like work…

I must admit though, all of the stuff you’ve posted on your web site has given away every story. I’ve managed to figure out just about all of them so far. Mostly which characters would be showcased not the nitty gritty of the plot. B)

You guys are verrrry aggravating. I supply books to three other people, I pass on the news to them and they are tearing their hair out in anticipation of these books. At least I get to pass on some of the frustration I feel to my customers…
I know how difficult it is to get a book from author to book shop and I know how hard you guys work to get as many books to us as possible. If I had one wish it would be have a 1999 book of the month club, but I know that isn’t going to happen. I’m just happy that you guys have brought back my favourite series. Thanks again guys, great job! 🙂

I’m intrigued, A season one story? Introducing some season 2 characters. It was amazing how easily the imagery formed in my head of the scene unfolding. Damn you Powys, I want this book now! 😉

    Thanks for the teaser…

I would love to attend, but the $1,000 air fare is a little steep for me just at the moment. Maybe next time…
To all who do attend I hope you guys have a great time. You can tell us all about “The Return Of Victor Bergman.” 🙂

Oops, so it has. Sorry about that. I guess I’m just lazy.

The old web page had a link for the book which has disappeared so I wondered what had happened.

    Thanks for the heads up.

in reply to: Nominate Your Favorite Fan Fiction Writer… #987

I have never had a favourite fan fic writer in the 1999 universe. Every single one has always disappointed me in one way or another. I haven’t nominated anyone for that reason. I’m happy to read anything Powys puts out because, so far, the stories have fit into my own 1999 framework beautifully. I’m sure that anyone that Mateo gets to write a short story will be given a brief on what direction their story needs to take in order to fit the Powysverse so I will be happy to read whatever is on offer.

You are about as far ahead as the rest of us, except off course for Mateo and the authors writing the books… You forgot to mention the Year 1 omnibus which is the next release planned for the next month or so.

I think that the introduction of science and technology relevant to the world of 1999 ‘actual’ is perfecty reasonable. Laptops, Ipods and the like were around in our 1999 so they should be present in the new books. Resurresction used concepts of gene splicing tech to resolve its story and genetic manipulation was in its infancy in the 1970s and wasn’t mentioned in the original show. It isn’t so difficult to make the jump from comlock to mobile phone to ipod, they all have a screen and a scattering of buttons. We know why the comlock is shaped the way it was and I’m sure that if the flat screen technology of today was available in the 1970s it would be a completely different shape.
All of the books, including those of the 1970s introduced inconsitencies to the 1999 world and I won’t even touch on the changes wrought by Mr Frieberger. Most fans have accepted the lttle niggles and mistakes and used them to fuel debate for the past 30+ years, that’s just part of Fandom where would we be without it.
I agree with the ‘Log entry’ statement, it should be a status report. I’m happy to put these things down to poetic license. Any professionaly written 1999 is better than the hit-or-miss (more often miss) Fan fiction we have had up til now.

If Fanderson still have the books listed then it is still in stock. As soon as their merchandise is sold out it is removed from the web site.

I got a lot out of the year two omnibus, not just because of the little extras but more the fact that the stories were presented in the correct order and had new material to reflect this.
