Glenn McCrabbParticipant
I wonder if we will get a sequel to this story. It would be interesting to find out what happens next. How about it Powys, any chance of a sequel? Even a short story in a future ‘Shepherd Moon’ type publication would be interesting.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantHi Steve, Did you send Martin an e-mail letting him know about the problem. If it is as serious as you say he would probably delete the link.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantI’ve just worked out all of the time differences B) and I think I might just be able to catch it, if they stream online. I don’t think the FM band will reach from NY to Australia.
I’ll let you know how I get on.Glenn McCrabbParticipantHey Pat, if you can pick it up on special somewhere go for it. But don’t rush out and buy it right away. I had to import a copy as it has only just started screening on local TV here in Australia this last week, our DVD release will be a while off yet and because of the nature of the show limited and overpriced. 🙁
Glenn McCrabbParticipantI like it! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear the rest.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh, that’s ok, I didn’t really care. I was just trying to make a bit of a joke by referencing the scripts of so many Sci-Fi shows.
Besides, translating online is… well, like cheating… isn’t it? 😛Thanks for the explanation though. 🙂
Glenn McCrabbParticipantGosh, that looks and sounds like the old Morse code. B) Unfortunately unlike everyone in every Sci-Fi show ever to use this plot point I can’t decipher it without a book to help me. A book that I can’t find right now… 🙁
Oh well, I’ll find it one day… :laugh:Glenn McCrabbParticipantIt was good, the village left a lot to be desired when held up against the original. The locale was one of the reasons I became a fan of the original in the first place. Such a pity the remake couldn’t have found somewhere completely different, yet architecturally as spectacular as Port Merion (which I’m sure I spelled wrong…) Apart from that I found it very good I did have to warm to it though and liked it more as it went along. I’ll give it 3/5.
Since the poll doesn’t have an, “it was ok” button I choose not to record a vote in this poll.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantJust another thought on this topic, maybe it would be worth considering if the stories from the comics could be adapted and expanded to fit the powysverse as a novella or short story. It might be interesting since some of the stories feature both Eagles and Hawks as part of Alpha’s fleet.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantHmmm, lots to consider here, I had always placed the stand alone 1999 novels between series 1 and 2, I had never considered them to be other than that. What an interesting thought to place them between other stories…
@ Mateo – with every post you give just a little more away, we’ll have the full story out of you verrrry soon. :laugh:Glenn McCrabbParticipantI must admit that E C Tubb was always my favourite 1999 author as a kid. I always went back to his novelisations first, not that I didn’t like the others (after all it was Space 1999 🙂 ) but I just clicked with Tubb’s style. Alien Seed is one of my favourite books. The imagery in the opening chapters when they first encounter the seed is truly beautiful. Damn, now I have to re-read that one too. I will never get any work done at this stage. The Powys releases have given Space 1999 a new lease of life, especially for me. I am really getting baclk into the whole thing. Now, if we can just get a new series off the ground… :woohoo:
Glenn McCrabbParticipantThey never worried about trivial little details like that on the show… 😉
Glenn McCrabbParticipantIs it that you’ve taken the glow from the monster’s mouth? That is the only thing that stands out for me.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantEbay was a great help in locating a full set of the both sets of comics. I also had the luck of being the only ‘hard core’ 1999 fan in my area so the dealers and shop owners would always contact me first to see if I wanted something before it hit their shelves. I must dig out the comics and give them a re-read along with the other original books. 🙂
Glenn McCrabbParticipantThanks Ultra, you must have a much better memory than me to be able to remember such a general piece of story. I must admit I haven’t read that particular book in a few years and, the older I get, the more of each book I find I’ve forgotten with each re-read. I did think that the piece was so general that it could have come from any particular book and Mateo’s changes made it a little more mysterious…
