Glenn McCrabbParticipant
Need you ask about a 1999 product? Everyone should love it! :cheer:
To hear Barry Morse as, not only Victor Bergman, but the other characters as well was a truly amazing thing. I will treasure listening to this book over and over again. I can only say once more, Well done Powys. 🙂
Glenn McCrabbParticipantThanks Tex, I’ll look it up.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantI’ve been collecting Space 1999 merchandise since the show was first on the air. I have an extensive collection and now pretty much wait for each new item to come up. I got most of my stuff from e-bay over the years and I am going to let you guys in on a little search tip. Don’t just search for Space 1999, look for Spazio 1999, Cosmos 1999, Mondbasis Alpha and all of the other names of the show in different countries. I got most of my European releasxe books this way and they were very cheap, only a few Euros each. 🙂
I don’t think for a minute that I have everything but I have filled all of my heart wrenching yearnings of, “I have always wanted that since I was a little kid!” and I am now running out of space to keep everything on display… 🙁
Fanderson is a very good source of new collectables and they do release quite a lot of 1999 related stuff. It is lucky that I like most of Gerry Anderson’s stuff and I can justify the cost of membership. Just a point on membership, it covers 4 issues of the club magazine not a year. So, if they publish 4 mags in 2 years, that’s how long your membership will last.
If anyone is collecting the Sunicrust 1999 cards, I do have doubles of some cards if people need to make up a set. I also have doubles of the english novelisations but I see these are on e-bay again so you can probably get those there.Glenn McCrabbParticipantI agree Alphan4ever, Earthfall is a brilliant novel and has long been a favourite of mine. I have both versions and treasure them. I can only back up your praise for this book and recommend it to all.
Maybe Powys could release it and translations of the German novels as part of a non-cannon collection. 🙂
Glenn McCrabbParticipantI am saddened to hear of the passing of one of my favourite SF authors. Growing up my local library had many of his books and I always hunted them out. I was a keen follower of the Dumarest Saga and of course his Space 1999 novelisations.
Fly free now Mr Tubb, you can now explore a universe that is far stranger than any you wrote about.
Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh no, you don’t get around me that way. 😛 That isn’t the Luke and Anna that Sandra knew, She would have mentioned all of those on Arkadia, not just two people. It would have been better to leave Luke and Anna where they were and have another planet altogether.
Actually this is one of the things I love about Space 1999, I am a passionate fan and will defend to the bitter end any “non-fan” who runs down my “religion”. But I must admit I have so much fun picking holes in the plot with other devotees.
Thanks Powys, for giving me a whole new set of plots to pick at. I’ll have to sharpen my nails, they’ve gone blunt… 🙂Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh Pat, I think I’m in love with you… Marry me?
I really like your approach to this. The big problem is, figuring out what is in and what is out in the Powysverse. There are already some contradictions creeping in. Sandra’s speech in Message from Moonbase Alpha mentions Luke and Anna on their Arkadia but she would know that they were dead. It is almost like a roll call of those she loved who were no longer around, but Professor Bergman is mentioned. Maybe he will vanish again…
I guess that is all part of the fun of putting together a puzzle with several different designers. 😉
Glenn McCrabbParticipantWow Pat, that’s very deep… Is that what you want to see in the possible sequel?
Care to elaborate a little…
Glenn McCrabbParticipant:laugh: in fact  My entire office just wanted to know what was so funny… And now they all know that I was on the net… 🙂
That’s ok, I’m the boss.
So if we have to have a nice conversation about a book, let me ask you this. What would you like to see in a ‘possible’ sequel to “Forsaken”? What direction would you like to see it take? A harrowing tale that leads to the death of all, with a bitter Paul Morrow counting his losses and despairing of leaving Alpha in the first place as he gasps his last breath? Or maybe a journey of discovery as the tiny band of settlers explore their new home for a place to live?
Do tell guys, we could have it all worked out before the book is even released. 😉
Glenn McCrabbParticipantPython! The universal attention shifter…
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you…
William ‘two sheds’ Latham. :silly:
Glenn McCrabbParticipantIs this the right room for an argument?
Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh come on… I’m happy for installments.
B) Ahahhhhhhhh! That means there is a sequel! :woohoo:
Glenn McCrabbParticipantMr Latham, you are such a tease. Look at all the speculation you have started now, will there be a sequel? is it already written? Is someone else writing it? What are you writing now ?
The big question is, not what are you writing but when do we get to read it????? 🙂Glenn McCrabbParticipantThat is obvious, you have access to a parallel universe where all of this is fact and you are the official historian.
Now we just have to wait until you tune into the right time and place. 😉
Glenn McCrabbParticipantAre you writing that in your next Powys novel? Or just teasing us? 🙂 Actually the fate of Paul and Tanya’s team and the whole space brain thing could make for an interesting book. A bit like ‘Eternity Unbound’ You could have a prequel, new novelisation of the episode and the sequel… Hmmm, ok go to it Mr Latham, your reading public eagerly awaits your literary endeavours.
