Wow! How exciting, I have always wonderd if, somewhere out there, the lost 90 minute version of breakaway existed somewhere, somehow. Even in script form it would be interesting to see the cuts to the story. This stuff is gold. :cheer: Thankyou so much for sharing.

Oh Mateo, you’re so mean teasing us like this… You know that everyone on this fourm is just hanging out to re-read the season one stories. And, we can’t do it because we know that your stories will have little enhancements that will make us all go, “Ooooh…” and “ahhhhhh, so that’s why…” and stuff like that. All these little hints are just driving me crazy. :silly: I want that book… please?
See now you’ve made me all crazy… 🙂

Oh I hope not. Surely Powys can come up with something more imaginative than that. 🙂

If it were me, I would be amazed that anyone remembered stuff from 35 years or more ago. Just try to remember what you were doing in 1974 on a specific day, what you were thinking, what your opinions were. It is a good thing the shows are still about for the actors/creators to watch for prompts to answers to some of the questions posed by us fans…
I think I would be a terrible convention guest, all of my answers would begin with, “Well, it was over 30 years ago but…” I’d probably end up making something up that sounded interesting. 😉
I would probably be proud that my work continued to entertain so long after and wish that my contract had included a percentage of the ownership rights of the product… 😛

I always felt that both Survival and The Forsaken fit beautifully into the 1999 timeline represented by the other existing 1999 novels. They have the same feel as the other stand alone novels, Alien Seed, Rogue Planet etc. Those two novels gave the series of books and the TV series, up to that point a feeling of completion as they answered some of our loudest questions, What happened to…? and Why did they…? I still find it amazing that Powys continues to do that with each and every book. Even the year two omnibus had some beautiful new surprises included. I just know that with each and every new book you guys will deliver us all of the action, adventure and mystery that we crave and have loved in Space 1999 up to now.

    Thanks again guys. B)

Ah Mateo, but you are the front man, so you have to have all of our praise heaped upon you. It is then up to you to portion it out to the rest of the gang as you see fit… 🙂

Oh I don’t know about that… Imagine the money you could make selling off the movie rights?

There was talk of a Space 1999 spin-off series, maybe this could be it… hmmm maybe not.

Imagine asking Nick Tate to write to foreword to that one. :S

The problem is Mateo, it takes me about 2 days to read a book once I have it… Pity those authors and publishing houses couldn’t produce them as fast. 😛
At least you know that as long as we are asking about the next book you are doing something right. There is nothing so sweet as a captive audience.

Much as I love a good audio book, and I’m sure this will be no exception, for me nothing beats sitting down with a ‘real’ book for a good read. B) Audio books are something I reserve for listening to whilst doing something horrible or boring and it makes it more bearable.
Even though I am looking forward to this release with my usual enthusiasm for anything 1999 realated I just want a new book to read… Please? 😆

Yay! New books… can’t wait. 🙂 Mateo, you must be well and truly sick of our cries of, “Please Sir, I want some more.” So instead, I will wait patiently for them to be listed and join in Pat’s happy dance.
