I’ve been meaning to ask if anyone else sees the same problem with the home page that I do. I use Firefox and the new releases/coming soon graphics are always off.
yeah, I noticed and mentioned that a year ago or so. Just some oddball Firefox glitch.
I mostly just use Safari these days, so I never really notice it anymore.Patrick ZimmermanParticipantthanks for the info. no problems here, just curiosity.
I also think that’s a good idea – spreading out the book releases. No reason to pile them together too closely.
So whenever you’re ready, that’s fine.as for the Compendium… well, I admit I’ve been waiting on PoM before ordering. I was going to get both at once and save a little on postage. I may have to re-think that though.
Any news re: the re-release of “Phoenix of Megaron”? It’s almost the end of March…
well, now that it’s well past the point of any April Fool’s jokes, seems like a good time to bring this question up again. Where art thou, o Phoenix of Megaron?Patrick ZimmermanParticipantI’m down in Texas City, so probably can’t make it.
Unless I can get that dang neutrino transmission device working by then…Patrick ZimmermanParticipantmateo wrote:
Just go to the left side of the screen here on the Powys site. Click on Space:1999 Books. Scroll down to The Powysverse Compendium. Click on it. You’ll find a Lulu.com blue ordering button. If you click on the blue button, it will take you directly to the ordering page on Lulu.com
the recent change of the Compendium image to be very large and “front and center” of the home page definitely helps a lot. Just need to enable a link from the image to take the user to the description page with the order button and it’ll be perfect.Patrick ZimmermanParticipantI don’t think this one will have any trouble selling out very quickly, regardless of when it’s released.
Patrick ZimmermanParticipantfree ground shipping until the 17th.
Use coupon code FLIGHTLESS305 at checkout and select Ground Shipping.
Patrick ZimmermanParticipanthmm. well, that didn’t quite answer the whole question, for me at least, as I never quite understood why lulu searching was completely useless.
(I fully understand why something isn’t available on Amazon, as they take a big chunk of the money from the sale).
But how would the titles not being searchable on Lulu be a benefit, since they are the place that actually sells the books. Or is it that a purchase via a click-through from the Powys website to Lulu will net a slightly higher profit than a sale done strictly on Lulu?
Patrick ZimmermanParticipanthere’s hoping we get some Powys books by the 12th:
Enter coupon code DOUBLEBOOKED305 at checkout and receive 50% off your second book.
You will need to have TWO books in your cart for this promotion to work.
This offer expires on February 12, 2012 at 11:59 PM PST.Patrick ZimmermanParticipantI think it’s really premature to say anything about revoking a license. and why would they? anything new is going to be years away (if ever, I highly doubt this is going to get made) and as well, they’d be 2 very different properties with 2 different titles. I don’t see how 2099 would infringe on 1999, just as I don’t think the recent Prisoner tele-movie impacted the Prisoner license.

and a ship named Asimov? really?Patrick ZimmermanParticipantI see new book images slotted into the “coming soon” queue…. so close now…
For the front cover, we wanted to have an Eagle over the logo–another homage to the original books. I’ve never liked the Eagle used on the US books. “Parts” were missing!
same here. It always bugged me that Pocket used a picture of an Eagle with pieces missing and the weak airbrushing of the undercarriage. But I guess that was *the* picture to use – it was the cover of the giant brochure, cover of the LP, giant puzzle on the back of the Donruss cards, etc. Too bad it wasn’t just a little bit better lit.mateo wrote:
Printing Phoenix with a red spine has always been the plan, however. I asked Ken to match it as closely as possible. I wish I knew why it had a red spine in the 70s!
the only thing I could think of at the time regarding the red cover of Phoenix was that it indicated it was the final book in the set, the ‘stopping point’ for Pocket Books. I’ve thought that ever since, but who really knows?
Patrick ZimmermanParticipantmateo wrote:
I was wondering what people would think of that.
when you first mentioned wrap around art, I thought you meant that Ken Scott’s beautiful blue Megaron would cross over the spine and fill up the back cover as well. Seemed like an odd choice to have full artwork for the first time on this particular book.
The direction you’ve actually taken though, I am totally on board with – I absolutely love the homage to the original paperback!Patrick ZimmermanParticipantmateo wrote:
Phoenix of Megaron just needs to be formatted, its cover adjusted for the actual final spine-width, then we’ll order a proof copy…you know the rest!
oh, yeah. gotta get that spine right. a very nice touch.Patrick ZimmermanParticipantmateo wrote:
