I had confirmation by e-mail & SMS (text message direct to my Mobile) that the 2 copies of “The Forsaken” & the 2 copies of “Children of the Gods” that I ordered on the day of release have been dispatched by courier and will be with me tomorow!

I am trying desperately hard not to squeal with delight! :cheer:

Thank you once again you lovely Powys Media people!

I have posted a review of the novel on Amazon.co.uk directling people to buy the book from the Powys Media website or directly from Lulu.com. There’re copies of the book selling for over £100!

    Here’s the review:

“Re-Released 24th January 2013. Now available to buy from Lulu.com
    24 Jan 2013
    By Steven J M Foster
    Format:Mass Market Paperback

Don’t pay hundreds of pounds for a copy of this novel! You can buy it for far less by going to the Powys Media website:

    […]

    or directly from Lulu:

    […]

This novel is set between Year One (Series One of the original TV Series) and Year 2 (Series 2 of the original TV Series).

The novel is a sequel (of sorts) to the TV episode “Space Brain” and focusses on writing out Paul Morrow and Tany Alexander and beggining the process of changing the format of the series from Year 1 to Year 2.

A fantastic, thrilling, thought provoking novel full of rich characterisation and (in the final chapter) non-stop action (the fight/confrontation between Tony Verdeschi and Paul Morrow in the corridors of Alpha as Morrow tries to get off the base is a definate highlight of the book for me!) proving that SPACE: 1999, is just as rich and imaginative a franchise as Star Trek or Babylon 5.

    5* & highly recomended!”

Unfortunately, once I posted the review, the website addresses were blanked out (hence the […] above) & then I noticed 2 typos! (which I’ve corrected when posting the review here!) 😉

Hopefully, people will see my review on Amazon.co.uk and buy the re-release via Powys & Lulu rather than from a greedy second hand book seller!

Oh, and by the way… I gave the novel 5 stars! 😉

    Thanks Bill 🙂

Lady Sokol has intimated to me that she will be commenting on this post at some point. I’m very much looking forward to hearing her thoughts on it.

Obviously, I’m tempted to revise and update what I originally wrote now that the OMEGA & ALPHA novels have been released, but I have a feeling that Pat’s insights into Year 2 and the Powysverse MUF’s will make for far more interesting than my several year old scribblings… 😉

    Wonderful news! 🙂

Can I just say though, as a Year 2 fan, I will surely die if you don’t release The Whispering Sea soon! One is desperate beyond words to read this novel!

Of course, the brilliant Mr Latham & the much missed Mr Johnny Byrne’s Children of the Gods is due up first… and for that I can’t wait! :cheer:
Hey Bill, I already got my copy of “Phoenix of Megaron” from Mateo, but figured I would try the link for you to see if it’s working. For me, at least, it is not. I have the latest version of Internet Explorer, and the link took me to a Lulu page that said my cart is empty. Seems there’s still a gremlin (or Maya in gremlin form) in the works.
FYI – I just tried it as well (for the same reason slindvall did) and the same thing happened.

Have read Chapter 1 of PoM today.

Very well written so far. I liked the way the author describes Eagle Seven’s orbit and its decent into the planets’ atmosphere. I could picture it in my minds’ eye very easily. The imagery of the Eagle flying over the dead cities is evocative. A good start to what I’m sure will be a great story.

We’ve been quite lucky this year. Powys has released 2 stories set in Year 1 (AP and PoM) with a story set in Year 2 (The Whispering Sea) due out shortly and several novels set during Year 3 (Children of the Gods, Black Doves and The Final Revolution) due out next year.

It’s an exciting time to be a (literary) SPACE: 1999 fan! B)

Interesting to read Mateo’s thoughts on Alien Seed and Rogue Planet (& yours too Simon).

I for one am looking forward to a Powys re-release of both books at some point in the future (just don’t use Eagle One Media’s version of Alien Seed as a template. It’s riddled with typo’s whereas the orginal paperback version released by Orbit here in the UK is typo-less) 🙂

Simon has raised a number of very interesting points regarding E C Tubb’s original novels. I’d be interested to hear Mateo’s thoughts on the subject.

I tried ordering via the Lulu button as well (just to see what would happen) and it does indeed take the buyer to a blank Lulu screen which says “your Basket is empty”.
Working on Phoenix of Megaron (and Android Planet) with John R. Mason has been a truly wonderful experience. I have only 30 pages left to go on my read of his Phoenix of Megaron SEQUEL!
wait.
    What?? :woohoo: :woohoo:

I’m starting to go into 1999 novel overload – Whispering Sea, Children of the Gods, Black Doves, PoM sequel (the Other Self??), and probably others in the pipeline, I’m sure.

so much to look forward to!!!
I had no idea there was a SEQUEL to PoM either Ultra. I assumed that, as with AP, the Moon would move out of range once the story of PoM was told and that would be that.

As for further novels, don’t forget Prodigal Moon, Odysseus Wept and The Final Revolution. And then there’s the Year 1 Omnibus as well as the possibility of Powys releasing new, revised Powysverse versions of E C Tubb’s Alien Seed and Rogue Planet.

You’re so right though. Lots to look forward to! :cheer:
