Yes. Lonemagpie’s the name I have on Livejournal and the TrekBBS so I figured i’d keep it here as well…
Well… what can I say? An absolute pleasure to have an opportunity to say how much I’ve enjoyed reading your books over the years. You were one of the real “finds” (new writers-wise) when Virgin started publishing the Doctor Who “New Adventures” line of novels imho. I bought each and everyone of your books… right up to “The Eleventh Tiger”. Correct me if I’m wrong David, but wasn’t that your last Doctor Who novel? Why haven’t you written any since? I think I’ve only ever disliked 2 of your books (“Autumn Mist” & “Mission Impractical”) but the others… are brilliant. “The Eleventh Tiger” is hands down my favourite. But “The Shadow of Weng-Chiang” was also a delight, but then, any novel ffeaturing Tom Baker’s Doctor, Mary Tamm’s Romana and K9 mark II was bound to go down well with… well, with pretty much everyone! The only one I missed out on when it was first released was “The Dark Path” with Patrick Troughton’s Doctor meeting Roger Delgado’s Master. I paid A LOT of money to get hold of a copy in Near Mint condition. I’m delighted to report it was worth every penny! π
I was delighted when I first heard rumours you were going to bring down the curtain on Year 2 and set the Powysverse SPACE: 1999 novels up for Year 3.
Have you approached Mateo with the possibility of contributing a short story for the forthcoming “Prodigal Moon” short story anthology?
HUGE RESPECT and gratitude to you for writing so many novels that I’ve thoroghly enjoyed over the years. You’re a very talented writer imo and I hope there’ll be many more original novels released with your name on them in the future π
Steve FosterParticipantMEGA EXCITEMENT! I lost my original copy of Resurrection when I moved house. Looking forward to re-reading the original again B)
Steve FosterParticipantCounting the days until this gets released… excited to read we’re on Step 5. Shouldn’t be long then. Right?
Steve FosterParticipantI have purchased the Year 1 Blu Ray from Network. Discs 6 & 7 are standard definition DVD’s and play without any problems on my multi region DVD player.
Alas, having found that to upgrade my TV & get a decent single region Blu Ray player & cable would set me back Β£600 or more… my Blu Ray version will have to remain on the shelf. In the meantime, I’ll continue to enjoy the Series 1 Special Edition DVD that Network released a few years back and pop the Blu Ray DVD’s in if I want to watch the Special Features.
Would dearly LOVE to see the High Definition, Digitally Restored version of “The Metamorph” on Blu Ray though π
If Network released Year 2 on Blu Ray, I would definately buy it pointless as that may seem as one day, I WILL upgrade to Blu Ray but it’s not cost effective for me to do that at the mo and I’d like the Players, Leads and HD TV’s to come down in price first.
Steve FosterParticipantIt’s now on my ever growing Powys Shopping list to purchase at the end of Feb (I might have to forgo the Coasters and the Mug from Zazzle though!)

I’d be up for an encore performance…
Does this mean… that you are in fact… Mr David A. McIntee himself?
If so… Yay! B) Great fan of your Doctor Who novels (e.g Shadow of Weng-Chiang, Sanctuary, The Eleventh Tiger, The Face of the Enemy, White Darkness etc. to name but a few I’ve bought over the years!).
Of course… if you’re not Mr McIntee… I’m making a fool of myself! Haha! π π
…I know how you feel :whistle:probems with ‘chat’ as I see them :
number 1 – there’s no-one to play with when I’m out to play π
number 2 – it should have a health warning as it can easily become addictive – (now you all know how I voted) π
number 3 – only a proper, fully fledged and bona fide member should be able to ‘chat’ π meaning ‘guests’ should be NOT be allowed to ‘chat’ – me thinks ( no…me knows ) some of you are being sneaky π
number 4 – MOST IMPORTANT I THINK – we need to keep Mateo and BL and everyone else involved with bringing us new sp1999 books…doing just that – working on bringing us new books – we don’t want them distracted with ‘chat’ rooms
I am SO totally in agreement with all of these points.
Stiill, when you log on to it… it’s nice to see other people have been nattering about ’99 before you. I LIKE eavesdropping! π
Steve FosterParticipantIf Powys don’t release this new, revised, Powys-media-ised version of this novel on _e-bsay, I;m going to go absolutely bonkers! π π
Please, PLEASE, get it released via Lulu soon! I may not have been able to afford the Year 2 Omnibus, but the money is there and set aside for AP. I WANT TO GIVE YOU MONEY! LOL! ;-D What more can I say? I’m that desperate! :silly:
BfA as a new sp1999 publication…made me very happy – so all youβll hear from me is wild applause…and a cry of βencoreβ…
Absolutely! I second this (but, truth be told, I miss my favourite Metamorph, even if she is now “Maya – The Woman” & “Maya – The Figure of Tragedy” rather than “Maya – The Shape Changing Gimmick that earned SPACE: 1999 a second season” π
Our Mr. Scott — the Miracle Worker — I’m amazed that’s only occuring to me now!We need a new cover in four minutes or we’re all dead!
Yeah, that sounds about right.
And another… (dialogue tweaked from Star Trek III):
“How long until we can get a book out again?”
“8 weeks. But you don’t have 8 weeks… so I’ll do a cover for you in 2”
“Why Mr Scott… do you always multiply your delivery estimates by a factor of four?”
“Of course Mr Latham. How else could I keep my reputation as a “Miracle Worker?”
“Your reputation is secure Mr Scott. Latham out” :silly:Steve FosterParticipantblatham wrote:
Look for Powys Chat on the Main Menu on the left — we’ll try it out for a bit and see how it goes — behave yourselves, everyone!
I must admit… I have my doubts about the wisdom of this… still, I may give it a whirl at some point. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a chat room before. I’ve only just mastered MSN Messenger!
Steve FosterParticipantThanks (to both of you) for clarifying what Kindle means. Much appreciated. No wonder I had no idea what it was
I’m old fashioned you see. I like to buy a REAL book (aka a Hard Copy! See? I can do technobabble on occasion y’know! Haha!), hold it in my hands, and read it. One of life’s great pleasures imho, but I’m aware that these… e-book things are becoming more popular, so I can understand why Powys might be considering publishing CTC via that route, & why not? Go for it, that’s what I say. It’s just not something that would interest me that’s all.
5. Chasing the Cyclops is selling WAY better than we thought it would — we’re talking about going Kindle for it!
What does “going Kindle” mean. Sorry. I just don’t understand what that means
Delighted that sales for CTC are high though. & rightly so imho :woohoo: :cheer:
hmm. it’s definitely out there.
but when I look for it using ebay UK, it doesn’t show up
it must be something that ebay.com is doing to make it a U.S. only item. (insert derogatory comment about ebay here)
here’s the auction # 280619722317. just paste it in the ebay search field and it will take you to the item
Thanks Ultra. Only found it by doing an Advanced Search and putting the Item Number in.
Then there was a new twist. I pressed “Buy It Now” and… it wouldn’t let me buy it. This is the message that comes up:
Please enter the correct information for the following fields:
Seller has not specified P&P fees for items in your basket. So I did, in the box highlighted in red: 28 dollars. & then it just took me back to the top of the page (the Buy It Now confirmation) & it says the same thing:
Please enter the correct information for the following fields:
Seller has not specified P&P fees for items in your basket. So, there you go. I tried to buy it. And couldn’t π There’re obviously MUF’s at work on E-bay… Saying that, cost-wise, including P&P it’s over 50 UK Pounds. Which is a LOT of money. In a way… I’m glad those MUF’s stopped me from Buying it Now, as really… I can’t afford to shell out that sort of money right now. I would have… but it would’ve gone on my VISA, which means I’d have just had even less money next month *sigh* it’s tough living on a limited budget… especially when there’s a SPACE: 1999 book by Powys out there that you you haven’t got, you know you want but you just can’t afford right now π
Still, can’t say I didn’t try.
Sorry Mateo. Thanks for putting a copy up for sale for me though  guess I’m just going to have to wait a while longer for a copy of the Year 2 Omnibus to fall in to my hands (which is kinda ironic, as I am just such a HUGE fan of everything that’s good about Year 2! Haha!) :silly:
But it also goes to show that these books aren’t easy to find on E-Bay if you live outside the US, which will hamper Mateo’s efforts to clear out all the remaining stock via E-Bay.
Something for someone in the know to look into methinks π
