A bit of a random question I know, but…why did you chose the name POWYS MEDIA?

I live in Wales and Powys is the name of a county and as I drove through it earlier today it reminded me of the first time I came across you and initially assumed you had some sort of Welsh connection.

I’m sure none of you have welsh ancestory so why the name?

I’m really suprised by the poll voting. Favourite character was an easy decision – we all have our favouries 🙂

BUT least favourite… I can’t believe Kano and Mathias are up there with so many votes…to me they were crucial supporting characters and I loved them both.

My Least Favourite would have to be Dave Reilly ( All that Glistens )- he still drives me mad everytime I watch him, with that dreadful Irish accent and his stupod cowboy hat. What was that all about anyway

He wasn’t on the list…but he would have had my vote if he had been!

Well …now that the secret of the ‘HAND’ has been revealed and ALPHA has been discovered we’d like to say a great big thanks to Mateo and BL and everyone at Powys for the way in which they handled the secret of the ‘HAND’ !

Also thanks for the handy hint in the URL posting. That really played a hand in our solving the puzzle.

On the one hand it’s great that the secret is out and we are now able to talk openly about ALPHA…but on the other hand it was fun waiting for others to find out about the new book.

We have to hand it to you guys…you did a great job with both OMEGA and ALPHA… hand on heart we loved the books.

We are more than happy to leave the fate of our favourite Alphans in your safe hands and look forward to what you have planned next.

So everybody, let’s give a great big hand to Mateo, Bill and everybody else at Powys 😆

Thanks for your efforts. You rock our world.

I posted an announcement on Sci-Fi World last week…

I want to shout about Powys from the roof tops – tell everyone who’ll listen how wonderful the stories are…but I think my neighbours would call the police

I’ve had such a thrill reading the books and seeing everything fall into place that I feel I should be ’spreading the word'…

I’ve been pondering on how to reach the space1999 fans who haven’t found Powys yet…don’t know a lot about social networking sites – maybe they could work ??

    Pat …that was a brilliant review ! BRILLIANT 🙂

You write your thoughts down so well and I really enjoy reading your views of the characters. I laugh out loud most of the time because you actually say what I feel. You’re right…Helena would never giggle..way too frivolous for our CMO…and Arra…can she really be evil…??

There’s a part of me that believes that our Commander couldn’t have got it so wrong…we’ve trusted his judgement for so long that it seems disloyal to not believe in him at this critical moment…surely he will save the day ??

My thoughts on Omega aren’t nearly as ‘involved’ as yours but here goes…

When the book arrived I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t as weighty as BFA…I like a really good, long read…but then I wasn’t expecting a cliffhanger was I?…I wasn’t expecting it to end just like that…OMG…think I’m going to be in shock for a while…

Ok…did I like it? Now I’ve read it and found the ‘cliffhanger’ ending…YES. YES. YES.YES. YES …As I was racing thorough it ( and I really do mean racing because it’s so fast paced that it made me breathless) I couldn’t see how you were going to give us a satisfactory end with so few pages left in which to do it…now my worry has been alleviated…you just didn’t give us an end! It was non-stop action and it just jumped out of the page at me.

It’s such a complex story line. Loved the way everything managed to fit together like the pieces from a jigsaw puzzle. The pieces seemed to fall into place with ease and as I was reading I gave you and everyone at Powys a huge ‘high 5’ because I can’t begin to imagine the amount of work and effort involved to do what you’ve done. To weave together such an intricate and powerful tale.

It was also a lot of FUN ! It was like some wild, crazy reunion and as each ‘long lost’ Alphan was brought back to us the sense of anticipation kept building. To have everyone ’re-united’ together again was a joy and a thrill. Maya meeting the ‘Earth Alphans’, Kano connecting with Susurra, Alan and Eroca…Anna and Luke, I guess I could keep going for awhile here…but I know you know what I mean.

John and Helena…I could have done with more interaction ( you can never give me enough J&H ). I do know you have to stay true to the original way they were portrayed and ‘it’s not a soap opera’ and yet I crave more! Their pillow talk was much appreciated and John facing his death by using Helena as his ‘happy place’…was very poignant. We, all of us, face the end of life alone and it is our life experiences, that define our existence. It was satisfying that John was able to be ‘content’ with his life experience as he contemplated death.

I say ‘contemplate’ death because I just refuse to believe that it is over.

I’ve never been one for roller-coasters…I prefer to keep my feet on the ground and watch other people screaming with the excitement and thrill of the ride…but yesterday I felt like I had been on the world’s largest and most exhilarating roller-coaster ever…and I want more !!!

There’s nothing else to say is there…but OMG

I’ve been walking around all day…muttering and mumbling to myself…my husband thinks I’ve gone nuts…it’s a relief to have someone to share the experience with although we can’t really say much here can we…aghhhhhh….

I’m also glad to see that it’s had the same affect on you guys too lol

    Hey Simon…

When I asked…Can we not have both?… I wasn’t directing it at you… AND it was more a rhetorical question anyway…I’m totally happy with what Powys are doing…lots of excitement and I must confess slight trepidation with regard to Omega…but I bet we’re all feeling the same way about that !!! What does the Universe have in store for our favourite characters… …I can’t wait to find out!

AND…just to let you know…I have not the slightest interest in anything sci-fi…EXCEPT Space 1999…it took hold of me when I was young and hasn’t let go since :cheer:

    Dahegg…it’s great that you’re here

I spent ages as a teenager trawling through second hand books shops building up my collection of Space 1999 books. Then in 1996 we moved to New Zealand and they got lost 🙁

Living in a new country with two young children took up all most of my time and although I missed my books I managed to catch re runs on TV there.

We returned to the UK in 2002 and I finally managed to rebuild my book collection complementing it with the dvds also.

For some reason I didn’t make it to the web until about two years ago  but since then I have been in HEAVEN. It may be a little later than lots of you but its been a really wonderful catching up.

The new books from Powys are wonderful and being in contact with people from all around the world who feel the same way about Space 1999 as I do is a real joy! For such a long time I felt that it was just me who loved and missed it. To be able to talk and discuss my favourite characters and stories with you all is wonderful.

To Mateo and everyone else involved…again I thank you for your Main Mission…for bringing us all together. If we all make the time to contribute then we can all share in the mission and help keep Space 1999 alive.
