Ken Scott turned in the possible final cover for Space: 1999 The Whispering Sea!
oh, come on. no fair posting something like this without including an image. sigh.
It’s out there – just gotta flip through the pages of the world’s most expensive “book.” 😛
Patricia SokolParticipantDust off those blue suede shoes, Zack!
Patricia SokolParticipantI just want to say, as having worn both the hat of an impatient reader & a writer now, it is an amazing amount of work to get a book out.
My step-by-step observation…
1: write book
2: wonder what the heck you were thinking/drinking
3: edit
4: put in drawer for a week
5: read/cringe
6: notice all the American cultural references & wonder if they will be lost on an international readership/send to off-shore friend for opinion
7: cross fingers and hope Hollywood has managed to infiltrate most of the free world
8: send to editor & resume normal life
9: receive beautifully formatted PDF/book
10: send to proofreaders
11: receive notification that item 2 was not appropriately addressed & realize you can’t spell/use proper punctuation/grammar
12: reconcile differences between American and UK/former colony proofreaders
13: have husband/family ask when the heck you’re going to be done
14: repeat 13 as necessary
15: send back to editor and hope for the best
16: admire Ken Scott genius when he makes your cover
17: wait with baited breath as the rest of the readership is becoming anxiousThat’s as far as I’ve gotten.
I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙂-Pat.

Am I right in thinking AP is set after “The Infernal Machine”? If so, which Year 1 episode is PoM set after?
The most recent info I had/have sets it between DD and ToA.

My purple sticky tabs, a nice, sharp #2 pencil, and a volume that I and I alone have (thus far) laid eyes upon* will be spending a quiet evening together, so Steve can read a book (hopefully) unencumbered by typographical errors. In a nod towards a philosophical dispute of Zeno’s paradox, however, I will maintain that 0.999999(repeating) is in fact equal to 1.00, and therefore if there remains a typo, I reserve the right to maintain that we have remained within statistical parameters and margins of error. And send you a bottle of white-out so you can fix the errors in your book without having to put little pencil marks in.
-Pat.*There is a certain amount of insidious glee in have the first proof copy of the Compendium. Oh sure, I know others have been ordered for the proper authorities, but (bwwaaahh hahahahaha) I got mine first.
Hey Pat,
Can you reveal the cover to the world yet or are we still awaiting approval?
I believe they’re still waiting for approval.
Proof copies of the Compendium are now heading to the proper authorities.
I have a copy in my hot little hands :side: Well, strictly speaking next to the keyboard. It’s all shiny and new and the thought of needing to break the spine to go through it line by line is heartbreaking.
Patricia SokolParticipantJust got an email from Mateo w/ an update for the author. Right now she’s

Patricia SokolParticipantEh, it jumps around a lot. Don’t blame yourself.
One very important question, is the title of this book “The Whispering Sea” or is it “The Whispering Seas” as I have seen it written somewhere recently?
That’s one reason you are where you are, and doing what you’re doing, Zack!
