Chris DaltonParticipant
I almost forgot.
I kind of expected what became of David Kano and his fate. I’m definately looking forward to the next novel or short story that explains what led up that event beforehand.
Chris DaltonParticipantSPOILERS
Definately enjoyed Born For Adversity. Not only did it explain a few open story threads concerning Maya’s brother, the fates of David Kano, Dorzak, and Sahala(which I wish did not happen), but also tied up those loose ends.
Overall, it was an excellent opening to the Year Three novels. This is definately the third season that fans wanted back in 1977.
I’m definately looking forward to more Third Season adventures.
So, in closing, I would like to say the following.
Look out Star Trek and Star Wars, here we come! Space:1999 is back and the future is even more fantastic!
:cheer:
Chris DaltonParticipantJust got my copy, today. I’m finishing up Born For Adversity tonight and starting on Omega, tomorrow.
Definitely looking forward to the next Year Three entry in the Space:1999 saga.
The Future Is Definitely Fantastic!
Chris DaltonParticipantI read somewhere that actor Shane Rimmer(Kelly from ‘Space Brain’)wrote a couple of unused scripts for Space:1999. By any chance, does anyone know what the storylines were for those two unfilmed scripts?
If anyone has any information, is it possible that these two could be adapted into two seperate novels(i.e. like the proposed Children Of The Gods novelization)?
Another question I have concerns the original Year Two novels that were published in Germany.
Are there any plans to translate them into English and have them(along with the Year One originals from Pocket)established in the Space:1999 continuity/canon in the near future?
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantI just ordered my copy this evening. Definately looking forward to reading it.

Chris DaltonParticipantSPOILERS!
I definately enjoyed all of the stories in Shepherd Moon. Although I will admit that Jackie Crawford’s fate was a bit of a downer. Even though his fate was heroic, it was a bit of a
downer.Which does lead to a very interesting story about the aforementioned short story.
My wife, who is Native American, read the story and was really upset about what happened
to Jackie. Having that ‘Earth-Mother’ quality about her, her maternal instincts went into overdrive(i.e. a bit of a frenzy). Loosely translated, she loves babies(children in general). When she first saw Alpha Child, her reaction to that episode was almost the same as Sue Crawford’s, concerning what happened to Jackie. Not as hysterical, but, still coming very close.
Nevertheless, it was a good story. Right after I finished Shepherd Moon, my copy of Born For Adversity arrived the same day.
Chris DaltonParticipantI just got my copy yesterday. I’ve finished the first two chapters. Looks very exciting. Definately the Year Three premiere that we lost out on, back in 1977.
B)
Chris DaltonParticipantI’ll definately check it out.
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantDefinately looking forward to Omega and the others beyond that.
I’m glad that Space:1999 is continuing into the 21st Century. Especially with the Year Three novels(the third season we never got). It may not be on television, but at least it is close enough with these new novels.
Arra definately had a point in ‘Collision Course’, concerning the destiny of the Alphans.
Beyond time and space…
Beyond the darkness….
Beyond the human evolution….
One thing remains absolutely clear.
The intergalactic odyssey of Moonbase Alpha shall know no end and will continue to thrive and prosper.
Be it in this new millennium or beyond, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s original and epic space odyssey continues….with excitement and wonder.
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantIf I may ask, what happened, concerning Brian, the Swift, and the issue concerning The Archanons?
The reason for my inquiry is because I don’t own the Omnibus editions.
Since I already have the two seasons on DVD from A&E, I figured(For practacle and conservative reasons, let alone financial, because of today’s economy), that since I’ve
got the episodes, I don’t really require the novelizations. It makes sense, does it not?
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantThe alien life force that was introduced in The Immunity Syndrome does not die. As a matter of fact, “SPOILER ALERT” it actually helps the Alphans in the end, once John, Helena, Maya, Alan, Alibe, and Jerry Travis find a way to establish contact and communication with it.
This is one of my favorite episodes from the series. Definately well written, well directed, and well acted out by the cast and guest artists.
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantSpeaking of the episodes The Last Enemy and Dragon’s Domain, I would like to address a topic that John Muir wrote in his book Exploring Space:1999. One concerning the stripping and recycling of materials left over from the Satazius and the Ultra Probe.
I’m surprised that there has never been any mentioning of the Alphans scavenging and stripping the remains of both spacecraft. Basically, recycling the materials for use on Moonbase Alpha. The aforementioned materials that could be used for the survival of Moonbase Alpha and the Alphans in general.
Most of all, if such alien technology from the Satazius, is compatable with the human technology used on Alpha(i.e. computer systems, life support, and other basic technical functions). The possibility of incompatability(?)and rejection could exist.
In a way, this also applies to the situation in the Year Two episode Brian The Brain. Surely, the Alphans could use the Swift for various Phase One probes, just to give the Eagles a bit of rest for maintenance and other diagnostic overhauls. Let alone, use what was left of the other Swift spacecraft that John, Tony, and Maya found on the surface of Planet D.
Most of all, they could use Brian(after being re-programmed, rebooted, his memory erased, and having the sound of his voice changed)for various tasks and other duties on Alpha. The A.I. computer could also be used to assist Maya with various scientific projects and other duties. The addition of Brian The Brain as a main character would definately give a new dimension to future Space:1999 stories.
Think about it. The Ultra Probe(once cleansed of any furthur alien contamination), Brian, and the Swifts are the property of the WSC. The Alphans would definately be entitled to the claim and ownership such ‘spare parts.’ Hopefully, there would not be a repeat of the events in Voyager’s Return, concerning the usage of those components.
Honestly, I can’t believe the Alphans would not take such an opprotunity to help prolong their survival in deep space. Such resources are few and far in between, if not rare in the galaxy.
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantIn a few words….
I LIKE IT!!!!
I can hardly wait until next month.
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantAre any of the other titles(yet to be released)references to literary or Biblical Quotes?
I still haven’t figured out the meaning of the title concerning forthcoming story about the alternative timeline/universe Alphans from the Year One episode “Another Time, Another Place.”
🙂
Chris DaltonParticipantMy wife ordered my copy on Sunday, so I should be receiving it by the end of this week, or the beginning of the next.
I can hardly wait to read it.
It will be the premiere of Year Three that we did not get during the 1977-1978 television season.
