It’s possible that Odysseus Wept may only come out in two editions — one our standard paperback size for those who want all their books lined up in a row and a larger size that may be a little cheaper for international buyers because they’ll print them locally in your country. Any feelings one way or the other?
The larger size would be appreciated. I still haven’t ordered Final Revolution because the international shipping just makes it too expensive. 🙁
matt pearsonParticipant

Lulu has been extremely challenging of late — apparently, the standard paperback size that we’ve used (and even 6 X 9 books) aren’t being printed internationally like they have in the past — we can’t get our same ISBN numbers and distribution options as we have previously which is REALLY frustrating. But, continuing to try to get a straight answer from lulu.
I’d say steer clear of expedited shipping for international orders at the very least until we hear more.
I’ll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for the update Bill.
My concern is that the books will be just too expensive for many people outside of the US. I’ll buy any Space: 1999 novel pretty much automatically, but even I balked when I saw how much it’s now going to cost if they’re only printed in the US.
Oh well – not much that can be done probably. Looking forward to the books anyway (when I eventually get them!) 😉

I’m keen to read the book but yes the US to UK shipping takes it out of my price range. 🙁
matt pearsonParticipantA great read, particularly for fans of Maya.
It’s set early in year two so it’s pretty accessible even if you’re not hugely familiar with the series. Basically if you’ve seen “The Metamorph” then you should have no trouble following it. B)
matt pearsonParticipantOrdering link worked for me. B)
Sadly the 20% code would not work (maybe not valid in the UK ?). Best I could find was QUICKSIX for 6% off.
matt pearsonParticipantA really enjoyable evening. Landau spoke at length about his long career.
There was some discussion of Space : 1999. He obviously remains proud of the first season and mentioned the scene between him and Barry Morse in Black Sun as a highlight.
He was less praiseworthy of season two. He felt that the character of Maya did not really work and he did not care for the new producer. He also regretted the fact that the show was now being done on a smaller scale, for example the smaller sets.
He said he would have come back for the third season had it gone back more to the original format.
matt pearsonParticipantI tried clicking the link. Just takes me to a blank page saying “My shopping cart is empty… ” 🙁

Nice cover.
Might pass the time until the next Powys book comes out.matt pearsonParticipantGreat interview. Really looking forward to the book.
It’s been a while since the last novel and I need some more Space : 1999 in my life. B)matt pearsonParticipantI enjoyed the book.
I would call it a “space opera”
By which I mean that out heroes spend much of the time being captured and escaping. 😆
There were some nice character moments. I liked the “spring lamb” comment to Helena. And the relationship between Sandra and Morrow, which was always very inconsistent on TV, is well handled here.
Not sure if Koenig really would threaten to kill someone just because Helena is threatened.
I’m guessing that the updates involved some of the supporting cast such as Verdeschi ?
The book is very plot driven so I would have liked it if the author had taken a little more time to expand on the characters of the two warring races.
Overall a good read.
matt pearsonParticipantMy copy has arrived. 🙂
Quite a slim volume so I will try to make it last. :silly:
Step 5 was done weeks ago. We are now on Step 3. We’ve submitted the completed book with ISBN and barcode. Waiting for the proof copy. This could take a week.
It goes without saying, we continue to wait impatiently. 😉
Earlier, I listed the final steps to getting Android Planet published. They were:1. The book is being formatted to Lulu’s specs.
2. Once submitted, an ISBN number and barcode will be issued. These will be incorporated into and onto the book.
3. Then it will be re-submitted, and a proof copy will be sent to us. We’ll check to see, all the chapters start on the right pages, etc.
4. If so, we log on, and choose “publish”.
5. Then we build a page for the book on the site.
6. Finally, we post a button on that page, and a message on the forum.Of course, there are always lots of intermediate steps that crop up. For example, will there be a dedication? To whom?
Where are we now?
Still on Step 1. However, now the book has been formatted (and we have the dedication), except for the copyright page and the dedication page and a minor formatting change.
Meanwhile work continues on Phoenix of Megaron.
Oh no ! Patience has never been my strong point.
Would be great to see it… ;)
yes it would…if only there were some way to perform a search on this site – then one could see if the book, and its smokin’ cover, had already been sneakily added – hidden like a royal blue Easter Egg waiting to be found, in the Underground….
but you didn’t hear this from me…
Good spot ! :cheer:
Another great cover ! 🙂
