Mateo LatosaKeymaster
What did we ever do to deserve you, Phil? We are not worthy! THANKS!!
Mateo
Mateo LatosaKeymasterYou mean clocks don’t run counter-clockwise in Australia? 😛
Mateo LatosaKeymasterAs much as I love to be embarassed on the radio–just kidding, the play, Soldaderas, written by Ruben Amavizca-Murua and featuring music by TKU (me and Cesar Gallegos) is opening at the same time at the Frida Kahlo Theater in L.A.
So if you’re not listening to Bill on Destinies, you can always fly to L.A. and watch the play with me, albeit performed entirely in Spanish. No? That’s okay, the score will be up on iTunes (etc.) by next week.
Seriously, I am bummed that I’m going to miss Bill’s interview!
Mateo LatosaKeymasterInterestingly, Pat’s book also includes references to works not-yet-published. I wonder if anyone caught any of these? 🙂
Mateo LatosaKeymasterPatricia Sokol is a fine example of Space: 1999 fandom, people who care deeply about the characters and universe created by the Andersons, Byrne, Penfold, and all the many other writers, actors and crew of the series. She has a keen mind and an attention to detail. Her analytical skills surprised even those of us involved in the production of the books–she recognized connections that our collective subconcious had made, but that we hadn’t consciously thought about (a fine Space: 1999 tradition, btw).
I salute Chase for his similar attention to detail. Though you may disagree with some of our decisions, Pat’s book helps show that we didn’t make them lightly. There is a “method to our madness”. 🙂
No matter who took the helm of “story editor” for the books, decisions would have to have been made. I saw a quote from Bill Cosby–which I will undoubtedly get wrong–which said that “I don’t know the secret to success, but the secret to failure is trying to please everyone.” If someone knows the actual quote, please correct me.
So we designed a geodesic universe of novels, short stories and audios. Our goal being an expanded yet consistent Space: 1999 epic tale, one that includes the original episodes and MFMBA as well as all the new stuff. A whole that is better than the sum of its parts but in which each part adds to the greater whole to one degree or another.
Pat’s book–a book about our books (and the original series, of course)–makes us believe that perhaps we’ve come close to realizing that goal.
Thanks to everyone who buys, reads and comments on the books!
Mateo LatosaKeymasterThank you for our first review of Patricia Sokol’s Powysverse Compendium!
Mateo LatosaKeymasterZack said, “We’ve all finished the compendium…”
Though I seriously doubt that, it is nice to know you are anxious for the next book. The Compendium is a BIG book and it will take time for people to read it. I hope that people will post reviews here once they’ve finished. All authors, after working for months (occasionally years) on a book, are curious to see what the readers’ reactions are.
Give ’em so love!
Mateo LatosaKeymasterPhoenix of Megaron is now has its page listed as a clickable bullet under “Space: 1999 Books” on the left side menu. Another step in the process. The release date is still TBA.
Mateo LatosaKeymasterSo what do people think about the Powysverse Compendium? Initial thoughts? Anyone finish it yet?
Mateo LatosaKeymasterThe simple truths are these. Although a quick formatting was done for Phoenix in order to allow us to send a copy to John Mason and John Rankine–he wanted his father to see it as soon as possible, it still needed to be properly formatted for publication.
And, we didn’t want to release the books too close together.
But mostly, we get caught up in and fell behind with our regular jobs and families and all the other crises life throws at you, but we haven’t forgotten about it. We’re just busy.
It is a thrill to have fans clamoring for the next book, of course. And we thank you!! It inspires us, believe me!
Now, if we could get Mr. Peabody to perfect that cloning machine…the Maklone, we’d really pump ’em out!
Mateo
Mateo LatosaKeymasterWorse! He spilled the beans: there is no video. I was thinking I’d see some animated emoticons or something.
That’s okay, we still love ya!
Mateo LatosaKeymasterNo luck yet. Give us a clue.
Mateo LatosaKeymasterWhen you do, we want video!
Mateo LatosaKeymasterWho will it be? 😉
Mateo LatosaKeymasterI’ve removed the Lulu purchasing buttons for the two Space: 1999 audiobooks as Lulu has stopped pressing CDs. We are now looking into another company to release our audiobook CDs.
I linked the COMING SOON book cover images to their respective pages. Phoenix of Megaron doesn’t show up as an item under Space: 1999 Books, but there IS a page for it.
I added track listings and cover art credits to the list of TKU albums and soundtracks. More work still to be done there.
