Just finished proofing chapters 8 and 9… on to 10!

It’s hard to keep my editor’s hat on–the READER in me keeps getting caught up in the story. I am enjoying Resurrection really for the first time! Why? Because I read so many drafts before it came out the first time and was involved in the plotting and editing all those years ago. When the book came out I was too familiar with it to enjoy it properly.

Now, EIGHT YEARS LATER, it’s such fun!

Our contract with ITV prohibits the release of material in electronic formats, including e-books. It is not an option. Sorry. That’s why our audiobooks are sold on discs and not as downloads.

Or the only episode to actually take place on New Year’s Eve (albeit in March), Journey to Where.

Finished proofing chapter seven. Time to call it a night. I’ve got five more to go. If I get an early start, I can finish tomorrow.

Well, I finally got back to work this week. Tecamachalco Underground has been asked to compose and partially record two pieces of music for the Brookhaven Learning Center at Samoset, whose students will perform their parts LIVE this spring. I spent most of yesterday working on the first of these pieces.

Today, it was back to Space: 1999 Resurrection–chapters four through six. I have now completed the first six chapters. My goal was three today. But it’s early, and I might sneak another one in under the wire. Once this proofread is done, we’ll begin the process to get the book out via Lulu.com. The artwork has already been reformatted, we’ll just need to add the new barcode.

Simon, you’ll do the interview next week, beam it to us here at Powys City, but for some reason, it will arrive before Christmas. It’s just a simple case of not remembering what you haven’t done yet but will do after saying you don’t remembering doing it. Y’know.

We could…but I think they’d look suspiciously like the telephone book.

Chase, thank you for a very thoughtful and thought-provoking post. We knew going into it that whatever decisions were made as to the direction of the series and in the creation of the metastory and mythology, we weren’t going to please everyone. It’s simply impossible. Space: 1999 fans are a thoughtful bunch, and everyone has different opinions. We can only be true to our views, hire talented authors, make every effort to have the books tell exciting and thought-provoking stories and try our best to have the novels be consistent in quality and philosophically (meaning they are all contributing to the metastory–when they do–without contradicting each other).

Our vision of the series is…well…our vision of the series. We’ve done our best, and though you may disagree with the decisions we made, the stories we told or the mythology we’ve created–that’s okay! I am grateful to you for buying the books and reading them with such an attention to detail.

One point of clarification though. William Latham had only seen 12 episodes when we began discussing the plotting of Resurrection. He subsequently bought the series on DVD and has seen every episode, many of them multiple times. He knows the television series as well as anyone. But even so, we have all our manuscripts checked by Martin Willey for continuity with the series and read by a small cadre of fans to keep us honest. 🙂 Their emails and suggestions are reprinted in Chasing the Cyclops.

    Merry Christmas!

As the book was published in 1976, I don’t think it is a spoiler to say that in the original book, Rhoda and Alan fall in love and Rhoda goes to live on Alpha at the end of book. Sometimes, changes are necessary.

Though my order was placed after most people already placed theirs….guess what showed up on my doorstep today? In plenty of time for Christmas! Anyone else?

Year Two sold quickly! I’ve put up another. We’re down to the final few.

In addition, I put up a rare First Edition (so far, Only Edition) of William Latham’s first novel, MARY’S MONSTER.

Anyone interested in this first (published) novel by Mr. Latham can find it on eBay.

We are planning to republish Mary’s Monster, but in a completely new rewrite. This is one is of a limited edition of 200 printed back in 1999. No more like this will ever be printed.
