Any credit should go to the authors (Bill, John, etc.) and to Ken for his amazing art. Not to me.

We have now received episodes 1 through 6 of the series and will have our first scoring session (to discuss where cues are needed, the exact timings, and to divvy up the composing tasks.

There is now an official website for information about the series. Here is the URL. There is also a facebook page.

I met Lance Henriksen on Saturday (the 16th), and we had a chance to speak about Millennium Apocalypse. I try not to get star-struck, but it was still amazing to me to hear him congratulate me on getting the job of composer for Millennium. He shook my hand and wished us success.

I thought, there’s no better way to have started this project. On the same day, I met with Joseph Maddrey, who gave me a manuscript I will be editing: a book about George Romero, the man and his films. Very exciting!

Don’t worry, I am working on Phoenix of Megaron–the next book due out, then Pat Sokol’s book, then John Muir’s new 1999 novel.

I think the first episode is scheduled for airing on September 2nd. The director JUST let us know last night, so I don’t have a lot of information at the moment.

The series is done as a set of nine episodes that tell one story. At the end of the season, the episodes are edited together to form a single movie-length film.

The first season (film) is available on Amazon both as a DVD release and a digital download/digital rental.

I’ve recorded all four demo pieces for the director of the web-series. I need to remix the last one and then just to send him a CD of the recordings. I should be done by early afternoon tomorrow. I can’t say which web-series–after all, we may not get the job! 🙂

I sent John Kenneth Muir all my notes for The Whispering Sea and we had a very productive TWS-related call on Friday. He is hard at work on the book’s second formal draft. It’s remarkably close! A few things need to be rejiggered, but surprisingly few!

Still, it will take a couple of weeks.

Going to take the day off tomorrow, meaning I am proofreading a book for an author (not a Powys book) as a favor. Then I will resume work on Phoenix of Megaron.

Cesar and I are also looking to rent (on the weekends) some space to use as a studio. Some very nice people in Koreatown are considering allowing us to rent a small space on the second floor of a K-town coffee shop. I’ll find out tomorrow. I do almost all my manuscript editing there now.

I can’t work at home. Too many distractions!

The next three releases will be:

    Phoenix of Megaron
    The Powysverse Compendium
    The Whispering Sea

All are at different stages of completion but moving along.

This weekend I am recording a demo CD, as Cesar and I are in consideration for the job of scoring a web-series. So no more book stuff until Tuesday.

I have now sent John Muir my notes for the entire novel. We had a story conference this morning as well. Things are moving along.

I finished reading The Whispering Sea. I will be typing up my notes today and tomorrow and getting them to John. We have a call scheduled for Friday morning where we’ll discuss the manuscript and any changes to be incorporated into the second draft.

So, I think you all know you can’t have The Whispering Sea NOW! John has been working on this novel for months. Once it is truly finished and ready for publication, that’s when it will be released. Can’t promise you any more than that.

There are references to this novel in the Year Two omnibus in the novelization of the second episode. Check it out! Just in case you were wondering: YES, we do plan these things out YEARS in advance.

Just remember, this is only the first draft. There’ll need to be AT LEAST one more draft (perhaps the FINAL draft), an approval from ITV, a cover design (and another approval from ITV), then a final proofread, formatting to Lulu’s specs, a proof copy, revisions to the proof copy, ANOTHER proof copy…and THEN publication.

And The Powysverse Compendium will be published before The Whispering Sea. It’s just entering the final draft stage now.

Phoenix of Megaron is a little further on, as its manuscript and cover have already been approved.

It was a great honor for both Cesar and myself to be asked by Phil Merkel to compose music for his students to perform over. Both pieces (in their original forms) can be heard on the Home page of this very site. Phil has already named the pieces. Both pieces feature Cesar (guitars) and me (keyboards/electronics). If anyone likes them and would like to purchase them, just go to iTunes, AmazonMP3, or even MySpace Music, and you can buy the invidual songs (or the whole album if you’d like).

We both wish we could have been there to see the kids perform. We hope the parents of the performers in the forthcoming concerts enjoy the music as well!

Even I’m amazed at how fast this thing has become available! Btw, on Amazon, the album is only $8.99!
