Yes, we know we said we’d get it out in June and we didn’t.
We’re still actively working on it — if you think about it, it’s really six books in one, and we know many people are really, really looking forward to this one, so we’re making sure we’ll get it right the first time. Because this will be going out the old-fashioned way (not print-on-demand), there are a lot more variables at play.
It will come out this year.
In the meantime, we’ve got multiple projects going on behind the scenes, including the follow-up to Shepherd Moon (Prodigal Moon), and multiple novels. We’re also prepping the reprints of the earlier Powys books.
Bear with us — we’re working on it.

October 27, 2010 at 5:59 am #1290Patricia SokolParticipantJust out of curiosity, will the stories be following production order?
Thanks,
Pat.October 27, 2010 at 6:05 am #1291Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh I hope not. Surely Powys can come up with something more imaginative than that. 🙂
October 27, 2010 at 10:27 am #1292Mateo LatosaKeymasterThe first five or six episodes will have their order changed. I don’t want to reveal the order at this point though.
With Year Two, we followed Dr. Russell’s status report dating and inserted the non-dated episodes according to production order and gaps in the dating. We didn’t mention the “X days since leaving Earth’s orbit” because they often didn’t make sense.

I’ll go out on a really long limb and guess that Breakaway is no longer the first story – and will actually occur fourth or fifth – in the middle of Earthbound as a “flashback” of past events as Koenig and crew describe to the Kaldorians why they landed so far off course.“Was your ship programmed to land on this moon?”, Koenig asked of Zantor.
“Only to orbit it. Then we would have reanimated and prepared for the final stage of our journey to your home planet.”
“Are you aware we no longer orbit Earth?”
“So we have discovered. Perhaps you could enlighten us as to how your community arrived at its current condition.”… we hear a slow whooshing sound, as we flashback “LOST” style to …
A day to be remembered. September 9th, 1999 – the day Koenig resumed command.
Command, basically, of a garbage heap.October 28, 2010 at 9:04 am #1296Mateo LatosaKeymasterInteresting…Not the direction we’re going in. However, I have already mentioned on this forum that I commissioned and received from Rupert Booth the heretofore untold story of the Moon’s encounter with Meta! Can you guess which spot it takes? 🙂
October 29, 2010 at 12:49 am #1299Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh Mateo, you’re so mean teasing us like this… You know that everyone on this fourm is just hanging out to re-read the season one stories. And, we can’t do it because we know that your stories will have little enhancements that will make us all go, “Ooooh…” and “ahhhhhh, so that’s why…” and stuff like that. All these little hints are just driving me crazy. :silly: I want that book… please?
See now you’ve made me all crazy… 🙂October 30, 2010 at 12:01 am #1300Patricia SokolParticipantIt’ll be interesting to see how the signal from Meta is handled, since we know now from Message from Moonbase Alpha that the Meta signal is actually the message sent back through time and space. Maybe that’s the point – the future Alphans sent the signal in that direction because they knew Meta was there and the signal would be intercepted. You know, this could end the whole story right now. At some point, this never-ending cycle is going to end when somebody translates the signal, they all get off the moon and diffuse the situation, nobody gets blown out of orbit, and the signal therefore mysteriously disappears. Ta daaa!!

Then, somebody steps on a butterfly and Al Gore gets elected president in 2000.
