Looking forward to seeing yer actual printed and bound copies…
January 17, 2010 at 10:34 pm #136Mateo LatosaKeymasterWe are too. At the final stages, little things come up that always set you back a little. Strangely, every time it is something different. Program incompatibilities, changes to addresses, logos, found typos, printer queues…
A lot goes into publishing a book or a CD that most people are unaware of. It’s so close…every little delay seems an eternity. As much as the fans want to have the books, we want to get them to you. It’s your feedback and comments that are the icing on the cake.
Enjoy your three-day weekend (at least those in the U.S.). We’ve got some “new” news coming soon–including the cover for OMEGA!
January 17, 2010 at 10:41 pm #138David A McInteeParticipantyeah, but I’m speaking as the guy who wrote it! There’s a difference between having the manuscript on the hard drive, and having a physical copy to put on the shelf
January 17, 2010 at 10:52 pm #139Mateo LatosaKeymasterI didn’t realize it was you! 😛 You’ve been waiting the longest!
January 17, 2010 at 11:07 pm #140Stephen JansenParticipantI’ve been waiting since 2004!
I’m sure it will be worth it.
🙂
sjJanuary 19, 2010 at 4:20 am #141Mateo LatosaKeymasterShepherd Moon and the Resurrection audiobook will be coming out almost simultaneously. We are planning to have the audio book go to press either late this week or early next week. Shepherd Moon will likely become available for order sometime next week as well.
After that we will move on to Born for Adversity. The Omega. As you know Catherine Schell is graciously writing the foreword to BfA. We have a nice surprise in store for everyone as to the foreword for Omega–when the cover is put up you’ll find out!

January 20, 2010 at 5:43 pm #152Simon MorrisParticipantHello Mateo
It is I – Simon.
Having recovered somewhat from illness (but only somewhat) I can’t tell you how pleased I am that these books are finally back on track. I’ll be having two of everything, as usual 🙂
January 21, 2010 at 1:41 am #154Mateo LatosaKeymasterWe’ve texted each other before this reply, but it is really good to hear from you.
So as not to make this a personal note, I should say: Simon is a long-time friend and Powys supporter. He has more than a few interviews with the authors up on the site and has served as the our fan conscience–reading the manuscripts pre-publication and giving us his opinions. Simon does so as a fan and reader. Martin, for example, does so also, but more for continuity and science. I respect both men’s opinions and no book published has not had changes (and made all the better for them) suggested by Simon and/or Martin.
Funny this internet, to communicate with people–in this case for more than decade–never having actually met them! Can you believe we’ve been corresponding since October 1997!
Health,
Mateo
January 21, 2010 at 1:50 am #155Ally DaviesParticipantOMG…this is so exciting…I keep checking in every hour or so…in case I miss anything.
Decided to re-read everything starting from Breakaway to help the time pass…please, please make it soon…I just read on another thread, that it’s like being a child again and waiting for Santa Claus…that is so true !!!! 😆
January 21, 2010 at 2:04 am #156Mateo LatosaKeymasterWell, to reward your checking back every hour… We received the approval for Born for Adversity this morning. As soon as we receive Catherine Schell’s foreword we’ll go to press! She is currently reading the book and has said she is enjoying it. What an honor for us–both that she is writing a foreword and that she is enjoying the book!
So keep checking back!
Mateo
January 21, 2010 at 2:30 am #157Ally DaviesParticipantHi Mateo…see…told you I’d be checking in again in an hour…
Thanks for the news…so exciting…and Maya ( ok Catherine Schell ) writing a foreward…cooler than cool as far as I’m concerned. Well actually to tell you th truth…if you got Helena (BB) to write the forward I think I might actually ‘die’ from excitement. But then I wouldn’t be around to read the book…so maybe you should stick with Maya!!
Check back in the morning…Ally 🙂

January 21, 2010 at 3:18 am #160Mateo LatosaKeymasterI’ll second that exclamation!
January 21, 2010 at 12:45 pm #161Chris DaltonParticipantIt would be cool to have Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Zienia Merton, Suzanna Roquette, Anton Phillips, Jeffrey Kissoon, Clifton Jones, John Hug, and Nick Tate introduce future Space:1999 books with a forward of their own. Including those of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, Martin Bower, Brian Johnson, and Nick Allder.
Are their any plans for such forward openings in the near future?
Speaking of Clifton Jones, will there be a Space:1999 novel explaining what happened to David Kano, before the events depicted in the second season?
🙂
January 21, 2010 at 7:32 pm #162Mateo LatosaKeymasterWell, I agree, all that would be very cool. So far we’ve tried to match the novel to the person we ask to write the foreword. Johnny Byrne wrote the foreword to Resurrection–after all he helped launch Powys and Balor was his creation.
Prentis Hancock did The Forsaken–the novel in which his character departs
Barry Morse did Surivival–the novel in which his character departs
Catherine Schell is doing Born for Adversity–a novel in which her character is prominently featuredAs for David Kano, that would have to happen in a “bridge” book between Years One and Two, and that will have to be in the future (for now). It remains an unanswered question.
