TKU (Tecamachalco Underground)’s first CD, a promotional sampler of work, is due for release on Easter weekend. Here is the cover image. One track has already been picked up by CreativJam in the UK for inclusion in a series of art exhibitions throughout that country this fall. (>bounces up and down in Animal fashion< Music! WANT MUSIC!!!)Technically, this is a promotional CD, released in advance of our first commercial release. We are giving them away to record labels, directors, theater groups, galleries, etc.
The commercial release, entitled ‘Innocence’ will feature many of the same tracks and will be released a few weeks later. Also in the works is a promotional video to be directed by Rupert Booth of Wildeyes.tv featuring the first track off the album, Marshland Trance. When it’s ready, we’ll post it up on Youtube.

You can listen to the entire album on the Powys Media site (at the top of the Main Page). All 14 tracks are available.
And a second release, the full-length version of “India” (31min, 31sec), will be released as a single in early May. Also in May, TKU will be phasing out the Sampler and a formal first album release, Innocence, will be released (track listing TBD).

Even I’m amazed at how fast this thing has become available! Btw, on Amazon, the album is only $8.99!

just .99 cents for a track? less than a penny for a song is quite a deal! B)We performed two of these songs in my Spring concerts, Shines the Moon and Samoset (Name of one of the schools I teach in).
What we’ve done is play with these tracks on tone bells, cymbals, drums, rain stick some weird clicking thingy (I have no idea what it’s called)
My students are multibly handicapped teenagers, some autistic who enjoyed the experiance so much, performing live (I called it a world premiere) with pieces that Mateo and Cesar wrote with them in mind.
I have 2 more Spring concerts, this Friday and the following Monday with another set of students who are also privileged to get the chance to perform these pieces.

While I will eventually get some audio and video of the show to Mateo I can not, due to confidentiality post anything on the net so you just have to surf over to Amazon download and listen to those tracks and then imagine the smiles on these kids faces as they interact with brand new music to the delight of their parents.
It was a great honor for both Cesar and myself to be asked by Phil Merkel to compose music for his students to perform over. Both pieces (in their original forms) can be heard on the Home page of this very site. Phil has already named the pieces. Both pieces feature Cesar (guitars) and me (keyboards/electronics). If anyone likes them and would like to purchase them, just go to iTunes, AmazonMP3, or even MySpace Music, and you can buy the invidual songs (or the whole album if you’d like).
We both wish we could have been there to see the kids perform. We hope the parents of the performers in the forthcoming concerts enjoy the music as well!
I’m hoping to buy a CD at some point… not all of us are into downloading stuff. If it isn’t on CD, I don’t buy it tbh. I’m kinda old fashioned like that 😉
That aside, I think it’s wonderful that your music has taken off in the way it has Mateo. I wish you HUGE success with this endeavor… but not if it means no more [b]SPACE: 1999[/b] novels! 😉 😛
