Not that anybody asked, but here’s something fun I had lying around that might be of interest…
The Egyptian plagues from the biblical story of Moses include the following:
• water turned to blood
• frogs
• lice or gnats
• flies or beasts
• disease on livestock
• unhealable boils
• hail mixed with fire
• locusts
• darkness
• death of the first-bornHow were these used in Omega and Alpha?
Water turned to blood would, obviously, be the brell. Death of the first-born would, obviously, be Robert Koenig. Unhealable boils and lice/gnats were combined in the death of the security guard who inhales a brell during their initial attack. The darkness (harkening back to Spider’s Web) is the name the bad MUF gives to the forces of the good MUF, but after the main climax on Ultra, everything is plunged into darkness, at least until the beacon lights up. Frogs and locusts and beasts were combined into the general threats of the dragons and the brell, both of whom basically swarm on their opponents, but also those berserker things that move at incredible speed. Hail mixed with fire (and this one requires a little bit of allowance on the part of the reader) was basically accomplished inside the Arkadian caves when Koenig and company are fighting the brell in close quarters through explosions that break the brell into small globs (hail) using fire. Lastly we come to disease on livestock. The Alphans don’t have livestock, or do they? They have…Eagles and Hawks, and I visited every possible disease imaginable on their ships in these two books (collisions, invasions, dismemberment, full-out explosions, and in the case of Carter and Maya, failure of all systems).
My mom will probably be thrilled to know I actually paid attention (sometimes) during Sunday School.

Too bad the Israelites didn’t have a flank of “dragons” to watch their backs. Might’ve made the trip quicker. 🙂 (Not that they were so helpful at the start, though.)
Should I extend this so far as to mention Moses’ staff used to part the seas as Koenig’s staff(member) (Maya) parted the brell? Nah…The pun’s too corny.
