January 23, 2010 at 5:52 am #167Mateo LatosaKeymasterI think you are the first to notice it’s available. No one has mentioned it yet on Online Alpha. Enjoy it. You’ll have a copy before I do.

January 23, 2010 at 6:48 am #168David BobzienParticipantJust luck of the draw, I guess. I had a few down moments and checked this site for updates and, behold, it was available!
Any tips on when Born for Adversity will be ready. I feel like I am on a roll ! 🙂
January 23, 2010 at 10:46 am #169Chris DaltonParticipantMy wife just ordered my copy of Shepherd Moon this evening. 🙂 I’m definately looking forward to receiving my copy. After the week I have had, it certainly brightened up my spirits! B)
January 23, 2010 at 11:06 am #171Scott LindvallParticipantI ordered my copy this evening, and I am really looking forward to reading it. Thanks so much for your years of hard work and dedication to continuing this line of books. I am kind of curious, and maybe just a little apprehensive, about the new release method you are using. I am unfamiliar with Lulu.com. Will the quality of the printed books be on par with the earlier books in the series? Also, how will this affect the release of the Year One Omnibus?
Anyway, quibbles aside, I want to thank everyone involved in getting this book out. I can’t wait for the chance to order the next several titles due out, including the Resurrection audio book. Keep up the great work….
January 23, 2010 at 11:20 am #172Patrick ZimmermanParticipantJust ordered my copy of Shepard Moon as well. Even found a 10% off coupon to use (READMORE2010) which knocked a couple $ off the total.
It’s fantastic to see the Space: 1999 line continue onward!I’m curious to see how Lulu does as well. I find it odd that orders in the US can take up to 3 weeks for delivery, but only 1-2 days for the UK.
January 23, 2010 at 1:06 pm #174Simon MorrisParticipantWell that’s my two copies ordered…..

January 23, 2010 at 4:19 pm #175Bill LathamKeymasterI think you’ll find that the quality of the printed book is an exact match to our prior books — paper stock, binding, you name it — lulu does good work.
Regarding the Year One Omnibus, we are currently NOT planning on doing this book through print on demand — we’ll be doing that book the old fashioned way (so when the time comes, people will need to pre-order the book.
One of the real benefits of print on demand is the actual printing of the book can happen at a point close to where you are (although we have no control over where it is printed), so international orders should also happen more quickly.
We looked at a lot of options over the years and this one solved so many issues without sacrificing quality that other than the price change, it was a no-brainer.

[/quote]If you Google ‘lulu.com’, there are a fair number of opinions on the web in various forums and in general they don’t seem to come out too badly at all.
I have one or two books which have been printed on demand and they are excellent quality, although I imagine there are occasionally some variations.
Using print on demand makes the books more ‘do-able’ – and I’m all in favour of that.

January 24, 2010 at 3:21 am #181AnonymousGuestJust ordered my copy. For those who haven’t bought from Lulu, don’t worry; I’ve bought several books from them over the last few years, and they do good work.
My one quibble so far is the use, again, of a sans serif typeface for the text of the book. Serif typefaces are generally considered more readable for books, that’s why the vast majority of professionally published books use them. It’s not conformity, it’s not a lack of style, it’s not an unwillingness to do something different, it’s just sticking with what works best.
January 24, 2010 at 5:03 am #185Patrick ZimmermanParticipantI have no problems with sans serif being used in books myself, as that’s the predominant text style on the internet and online reading has never been a problem to me.
It’s interesting that a quick google check tells me that “serif is more readable” is essentially an urban legend.January 24, 2010 at 6:20 pm #186Ally DaviesParticipantI go to to London for the weekend…I’m away for less than 48 hrs and look what happens…I miss it !! :S
Never mind…just ordered my copy…so the wait is nearly over. Just need to clear my schedule for a day next week now so that when it arrives I can devote myself to it without interupption…hahaha !
January 25, 2010 at 5:25 am #188Mateo LatosaKeymasterWe hope you enjoy it!
