Very sad news indeed. I remember meeting Gerry when he visited Australia in the 1990s. He was such a nice person, I was able to speak to him (briefly), get an autograph and have my photo taken with him. I remember thanking him for making Space 1999. A highlight of my life.
I will celebrate the life of Gerry Anderson by watching some of his shows. I have Twizzle, Torchy the Battery Boy, Four Feather Falls, Fireball XL-5, Stingray, Thinderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, The Secret Service, Doppelganger, The Protectors, UFO, Space 1999, The Day After Tomorrow, Terrahawks, Space Police, Dick Spanner, Space Precinct, Lavender Castle and New Captain Scarlet in my DVD collection to choose from. I think I can find something to salute Gerry’s life of achievements.
I will also be getting together with some friends on 5th January for a DVD day to celebrate the life of this amazing man.
Thanks Gerry for all those worlds of wonder, those amazing spaceships and fantastic vehicles. But most of all, thanks for firing my young imagination and making me believe that nothing is impossible, it just hasn’t been discovered yet.

Rod Serling, Gene Roddenberry, Irwin Allen, Patrick McGoohan, and now Gerry Anderson.

Our TV imagineers are now all gone.

Thank you, Mr. Anderson, for helping to shape me into the man I am today.

RIP Gerry Anderson who died on boxing day 2012. We will never see this kind of innovation and pure entertainment again. A True original from Supercar and before, to Space 1999 and beyond.
