Howard Margolin, host of Destinies: The Voice of Science Fiction, out of Stony Brook on WUSB 90.1 FM, will be interviewing both Cesar Gallegos–graphic artist for many Powys Space: 1999 books and audios, and Mateo Latosa–publisher/editor at Powys Media.
The interview is live and starts at 11:30 P.M. EST on Friday, August 6th. That’s 8:30 for us here on the West Coast.
Topics will include The House Between soundtrack, which Cesar and I co-composed, and the recent and future releases of Powys Media. Excerpts from the soundtrack and from the upcoming audio books will be played.
The interview will last about 40 minutes. If anyone’s interested, go to http://www.captphilonline.com and follow the links to Destinies. There might be info on how to listen in–I don’t know if it streams live on the net (but I think so).

August 4, 2010 at 1:56 am #1150Glenn McCrabbParticipantI’ve just worked out all of the time differences B) and I think I might just be able to catch it, if they stream online. I don’t think the FM band will reach from NY to Australia.
I’ll let you know how I get on.August 4, 2010 at 8:41 am #1152Phil MerkelKeymasterThe show will be archived on my website as are Destinies shows from 2006 and onwards. Theres even a few shows with some guy named Bill Latham and a dude named John Muir! Dig around they are there. If you like soundtracks Howards been able to get a bunch of composers on of late, maybe not as famous as Mateo but still starting to make a name for themselves like Bear McCreary and John Debney! Also even more author interviews, movie reviews the occasional Radio Theater and more.
The main link is here

and if you scroll all over you’ll find the archives going back to 2006, a page of Classic shows which run parallel to the current show here

and Essential shows with old shows featuring great stuff like the Jon Pertwee or Colin Baker interviews

Now for this Fridays show it may be uploaded late because I’ll be attending the NASFIC in Raleigh North Carolina. The NASFIC occurs whenever the World Science Fiction Convention is held outside of North America (It’s in Australia this year) so they hold a sort of Worldcon for North American fans who can’t afford to travel that far.
I’ll be there already on Friday and I read that there is limited internet access in the hotel so I’ll be downloading and converting the show on Saturday and uploading it later in the day depending on what con panels I’m at. The show may not be uploaded until Sunday.
If you can’t wait you can go to the radio stations website and click on schedule at this link
http://www.wusb.fm/station/schedule/week
then scroll to Friday, 11:30pm, you’ll see Destinies and a little speaker above it, click the speaker and the current show wiill play. The station keeps their shows available for 7 days.
August 7, 2010 at 5:54 pm #1163Phil MerkelKeymasterDownloading the show with Mateo now, I ought to get it compressed and uploaded sometime today. Those of you who can’t wait can listen to the stream if you follow my directions in the previous post
August 7, 2010 at 6:11 pm #1164William LathamKeymasterBy the way, for those who like a good mystery…there’s a nod to Howard’s radio show somewhere in “Space:1999 Alpha” — there’s an autographed copy of the book for the first person who finds it (whose last name isn’t Merkel, Margolin, or Latosa) who reports it on this site…
August 8, 2010 at 11:13 pm #1165Mateo LatosaKeymasterThanks to Phil Merkel for putting the interview with Powys’s Cesar Gallegos and Mateo Latosa on Destinies: The Voice of Science Fiction up on the net. Anyone wishing to listen to it, can go to http://www.captphilonline.com — then click on Destinies on the left, scroll down past the spinning USS Enterprise until you see the covers of Spider’s Web and The House Between. Click on the date, August 6, 2010, above them.
As Phil said, you can listen to it on the site, or right click on the date to “Save As” and save it to you computer. Then click on the file once it is downloaded and your default music player should engage.
