Did “Hyria” 😉 get approved?
February 4, 2011 at 3:55 am #1875Mateo LatosaKeymasterIt can’t be approved until I deliver the full wraparound cover. I just today sent Ken Scott the back cover text. He’s been patiently waiting for me to write it! We’re still working on the manuscript. So there is no rush on the cover.

February 5, 2011 at 6:49 am #1891Mateo LatosaKeymasterKen, our miracle worker, has completed the Phoenix of Megaron wrap-around cover. I submitted it today for approval. Meanwhile, work on the manuscript continues.
February 5, 2011 at 6:57 am #1892Glenn McCrabbParticipantExcellent stuff! You might outdo yourself and we’ll have two books of the month. I’ll be all worn out from Happy Dancing to do any reading… 😉
February 7, 2011 at 7:28 am #1898Mateo LatosaKeymasterI finished doing small edits on chapters 1-7 of Phoenix of Megaron. I sent the revised manuscript off to John Mason to get his opinion. We are working together on the book (as we did on Android Planet), putting forth ideas, edits, changes, additions. I typed up some suggestions for larger scale alterations and send it to him. I look forward to seeing his thoughts.
We are both determined to keep the book in line with his father’s intentions, while we also realize that the progenitor of Phoenix of Megaron–Forgotten Rocket–offers alternate plot ideas. And, of course, we are trying to fit the book within the Powysverse. John Mason understands his father’s writing style and can match it very nicely. It’s a great PLUS for these books and an honor to have him onboard!
The cover art is done and awaiting approval. I’ll post when it arrives (assuming they don’t want any changes).
February 11, 2011 at 7:53 pm #1938Darren AllenParticipantI love the cover 🙂
February 12, 2011 at 12:35 am #1939Chris DaltonParticipantDefinately like the cover. I’m certainly looking forward to its release.
Which reminds me. What’s the latest scoop(information update)on the classic re-release?
Keep up the good work. Space:1999 is getting better and better with each novel. 🙂
February 12, 2011 at 8:41 am #1941Mateo LatosaKeymasterthe latest:
The cover has been approved pending a change of logo (ITV has more than a few).
John Mason and I have hammered out another version of the manuscript, and come to agreement on certain changes we want to make to the novel. I will read the latest draft this weekend and offer some final notes for the final draft.
The people at Staples must love me by now, all the manuscripts I have printed and bound there. They already know…doubled-sided, coil bound, black and clear plastic covers.
February 19, 2011 at 10:33 am #1998Mateo LatosaKeymasterJohn Mason sent me a new version of the manuscript last week. I read it today, and I’d say we’re nearing completion. I suggested a few tweaks to his changes. As you can see, it’s a sort of back and forth of ideas. I sent off this now NEWER new version to him this afternoon. He’ll give me feedback. Once we reach agreement, then we begin the task of proofreading.
And by now, you all know all the steps we have to cover to get the book to print…
Would anybody like to try to list them–without just copying one of my old posts? I’ll let you know if you miss one (or more)!

The other end of the rope:
1. search for hidden clues
2. keep mouth closed and fingers off the keyboard until others find the Easter Egg
3. read a painful accounting of the editing process
4. get excited at an updated post
5. repeat 3 & 4 as needed
6. watch the calendar, repeatedly
7. wait for Zack’s happy dance

February 21, 2011 at 5:53 am #2010Mateo LatosaKeymasterWell, here we go!
I just finished proofreading and correcting Chapter One. That’s all I’m going to do for today. I am going to take some personal time and finish a novel I’ve been reading: Poul Anderson’s Starfarers. I’ve got about 45 pages to go and would like to finish it. Tomorrow is a holiday, so I’ll be able to put a few more hours in to Phoenix tomorrow.
LATE UPDATE:
I finished Starfarers and still had time to get back to Phoenix. I’ve now proofread and corrected Chapter Two as well.February 21, 2011 at 1:01 pm #2011Ally DaviesParticipantWay 🙂 To :cheer: Go
