Hey, folks — I think I’ve found a fix for the Phoenix button on lulu — give it a whirl.
Basically, it’s forcing it to open as a new page and lulu wasn’t liking it working otherwise. Some of our other links were also not working so these should be fixed now as well.
Please let us know if the buttons don’t work for you (and please include browser you’re using).
Thanks for your patience!
October 13, 2012 at 5:43 pm #2837Scott LindvallParticipantHey Bill, I already got my copy of “Phoenix of Megaron” from Mateo, but figured I would try the link for you to see if it’s working. For me, at least, it is not. I have the latest version of Internet Explorer, and the link took me to a Lulu page that said my cart is empty. Seems there’s still a gremlin (or Maya in gremlin form) in the works.
nope, not working for me. tried it with both Safari 6 and Firefox 15 on Mac OS 8. Both browsers open new tabs to an empty lulu shopping cart page.I tried the Lulu buttons for the other books – all of them work – but – some open as new tabs and some open on the same tab. So I’m not sure how that ties into the PoM button not working.
October 13, 2012 at 7:55 pm #2842Simon MorrisParticipantNope, doesn’t work for me on either Internet Explorer or Firefox, Bill.
Using the search facility on Lulu for the book doesn’t produce any results either, so I’d have thought that meant that the book just isn’t there?

I asked Mateo about the fruitless searching before, and Lulu is intentionally set up to NOT find the Powys books through a search (other than BfA for some reason). This means the buyer can only buy via the Powys site. Brings more traffic to this site.
October 13, 2012 at 8:33 pm #2844William LathamKeymasterCan somebody try clearing their browser cache?
Internet OptionsBrowsing HistoryDelete Temporary Files
Then try the button again.
October 13, 2012 at 8:37 pm #2845William LathamKeymasterHmmm…seems to work if you’re already logged in at lulu.com, doesn’t work if you’re not.
Sounds like cookie issues….
October 13, 2012 at 8:46 pm #2846William LathamKeymasterOk, I’ve reported the problem to lulu — hopefully they’ll have a fix for us soon.
In the meantime, if you want to place an order, go log in at lulu.com, then come back to the powys site, and then click the button.
Ah, computers are supposed to make everything easier…
October 13, 2012 at 9:12 pm #2847Mateo LatosaKeymasterI’ve added Bill’s instructions to the Phoenix of Megaron page, as well as a link to lulu.com to make it easier. I’ve also moved the Phoenix listing into the ‘released in 2012’ section and made that listing a link to the Phoenix page. The Black Doves SPECIAL ADVANCE PREVIEW is now listed there as well. Also, I put a higher resolution of the Powys Media logo and name on the main page.
The first person to order Phoenix via Lulu–please let us know!
October 13, 2012 at 9:14 pm #2848Mateo LatosaKeymasterI just tried the button, following Bill’s instructions, worked like a charm!
October 13, 2012 at 9:20 pm #2849Patrick ZimmermanParticipantwell, I’ve tried all those tricks – logging on to Lulu first, clearing lulu cookies and trying to order, clearing cookies, cache, history and then logging in to lulu and then ordering – but PoM never shows up in the Lulu cart.
may still have an OS/browser thing going on here.October 13, 2012 at 9:28 pm #2850Mateo LatosaKeymasterI logged in to Lulu, then opened a new browser window to Powys Media, clicked on the button and the book was in my cart.
I just now did it again, and again, it was all good. BTW, I didn’t clear my cache or cookies or anything.
October 13, 2012 at 10:09 pm #2851Simon MorrisParticipantNothing worked for me – not that it matters currently, as I’m waiting for my copy direct from Mateo. (Still hasn’t arrived….)
I do tend to agree it’s some kind of cookie problem, although I’ve never had a problem with Lulu before.
As a test, when I click on the Lulu ‘Buy Now’ button for Android Planet, I get taken directly to that book. Yet if I use the search facility, the only Space: 1999 book I get is Born for Adversity and something called Spaced Out by Prentis Hancock, which is – allegedly – the foreword he wrote for The Forsaken! Eh?! What’s that all about?!
– Simon
October 13, 2012 at 10:13 pm #2852Simon MorrisParticipantYep – definitely a cookie problem I think.
Went back and tried the Buy Now button for PoM one more time and it took me to…..Android Planet (the page I’d just been looking at….!)
Meh.
