What did you mean by Y2 being $150? Is there a Y2 set out there from Network?
And as for the Moon…everyone has. I’d bet on it. Of course we’re discussing a thread from a completely different forum!
What Zack didn’t mention–and this is what really excited me when I got mine–is that the Network release has an ISOLATED SCORE! Yes, you can listen to the music by itself while watching the episodes. This gives you access to music used in the show but not on any soundtrack CDs! Sweet!
I was under the understanding the Fanderson CDs had everything played in the series. Is this incorrect?
April 30, 2010 at 3:10 am #878Mateo LatosaKeymasterIt has a LOT, but not everything. We could compile a list, I guess.
Just to start it off:
1. The music from the coda of End of Eternity.
2. The episode title music from The Infernal Machine.
3. Almost all of the incidental score for The Troubled Spirit.
4. The music used as background music from much of Mission of the Darians (a personal favorite).
5. The ATTACK cue from The Infernal Machine….April 30, 2010 at 3:11 am #879meredithParticipantPatS wrote:
Well, it took very little prodding and thus I ordered Y1 from Amazon.uk, and a multi-region (or regionless, I don’t know) upconverting DVD player, for not so bad a price. Y2 is well over $150, so that’s gonna hafta wait.
Ouch! All I can find on Amazon.uk is the Carlton Y2 set, which is grossly overpriced at £160! You would do much better buying the entire R1 megaset for £43.

April 30, 2010 at 3:19 am #882Mateo LatosaKeymaster6. Lots of percussion cues from Full Circle
7. The Dragon Domain “dirge” (oddly enough, also used once in Y2)
8. The music when Lee shock Helena and sends her flying.
9. A piano cue from Ring Around the MoonUltimately the Fanderson discs were full to the brim. I don’t think they could fit anymore. Also some of these were library tracks, not composed by Barry Gray.
I wish they’d make a supplement disc…and if wishes were horses…
April 30, 2010 at 3:33 am #884Glenn McCrabbParticipantOh, I forgot to mention all of the extras, almost worth it for them alone. I think I have 12 different version of Space 1999 on DVD. German, Italian, French, Australian, US and UK… Just for the extras. On the Network disk there are some interesting unused effects shots, some nice interviews, Gerry Anderson comentaries (I’m at work so I don’t have my disks handy) I can’t think of anything else… Oh, a nice variation on the Fanderson Doumentaries with a different cut on the interviews. Hey, be like me get them all.
April 30, 2010 at 3:45 am #885Patricia SokolParticipantThere is just the Carlton Y2, not Network – that’s the one I meant. I read some place that Network was planning on releasing Y2, not sure if they actually did…? Sorry for any confusion.
I have access to the 30th Anniversary set , that’s why I was wondering is picking up the Network version was any better.

Just be sure it’s a “multi-system” player that can convert PAL to NTSC (I’m assuming you are in North America). I’ve had one for a few years and it’s definitely been worth it. Too many great things only available in PAL format, like the Network Y1 release, the original BBC Quatermass trilogy, and so on.April 30, 2010 at 5:35 am #887Glenn McCrabbParticipantThe Network version is better than the US 30th anniversary version. Much much better.

And it looks like it was just discontinued 🙁
Out of stock at Amazon UK, and deleted from Network’s site.May 13, 2010 at 7:53 am #927Glenn McCrabbParticipantYou could try getting the region 4 version, it is an exact copy of the network release. Try ezydvd.com.au they do international orders.
May 13, 2010 at 7:56 am #929Glenn McCrabbParticipantI just checked and it is still in stock at ezydvd.
May 13, 2010 at 7:59 am #930Patricia SokolParticipantI got an email from Amazon.uk saying their supplier was delayed, or something to that effect. Perhaps I should consider it permanently delayed? Thanks for the head-up on the other source.
