Hmm. Intriguing title this. Set in “Year 3” as far as I know, after the mindbogglingly brilliant ”OMEGA” & “ALPHA”.

As far as I knew, John Kenneth Muir was going to write this. But on Martin Wiley’s website, William Latham is going to write it instead. See:

    http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/main/merc/vmnpowys.html

Now, as a SPACE: 1999 fan, I have to (somewhat inevitably) bow the knee to the… deliciously twisted genius 😉 of the afformentioned Mr Latham, but I was under the impression that the afformentioned Mr Muir was going to write this story… & to be honest, I want him to as he & Bill are, for my money, the best SPACE: 1999 writers Powys has on the books (I hope the two of them will write something for the “Prodigal Moon” anthology too!)

Bill’s got enough on his plate trying to write “Children of the Gods”…
which, as a massive fan of Year 2, I am eagerly awaiting his take on! (the novel is set partly in Year 2 with the payoff set in the Powysverse Year 3)
& “The Final Revolution”. JK-M wants to write another novel set in the original, classic SPACE: 1999 universe. How comes he’s not going to write “Odysseus Wept”?

A little bit of clarification would be appreciated.

I for one, am DESPERATE to read “The Whispering Sea”…
It’ll be Year 2 all over again only this time… John Kenneth Muir is in charge & NOT Freddie Freiberger. How cool will that be?!?
😉

JKM’s a busy guy and has a lot of professional writing commitments. His next Powys novel will be The Prisoner: The Last Waltz. He will be contributing a story to Prodigal Moon, though!

Didn’t know the news on this was going to get out so early. I for one love reading John’s books on film so if I can take some load off him to write other stuff, there’s a tradeoff there that I actually benefit from! I was gonna write a Prisoner novel but I’m likely bailing on that, so it’s kind of an even tradeoff. But I also love reading his Space:1999 stuff.

Gonna be busy for the next year or so.

    Thanks for the clarification guys.

News that Bill will be writing more SPACE: 1999 novels is wonderful news indeed! (obviously!) & I’m very glad to hear that JK-M will be contributing a story to “Prodigal Moon” as well B)
