Actually, I thought Rankine had the best “sense” of the characters of the Y1 novelizers, or whatever you’d call them. I enjoy his writing.

I wouldn’t have thought there would be any wreckage on the Moon. Wouldn’t the Alphans be out there scavenging every last scrap of usable material. They were always talking about being short of supplies and materials. Also, any alien wreckage would be of immense interest to the large group of scientists on the base. Any scrap of new science that could be gathered would be of immense help to the Alphans trying to survive in a hostile universe.
