Looks like we’ve got lots of folks who saw Space:1999 during its initial run on our web-site, but difficult to gauge (remember, one vote to a customer, please!).
Let us know what you liked about 2010 at Powys. It was just about a year ago that we resurfaced and we’ve had quite a year. 2011 looks like it will be a good year as well.
We know, we didn’t get to the Year One Omnibus this year, but we’re working on it.
Keep your eyes open around Christmas for some announcements…and go vote in the poll!
December 20, 2010 at 3:25 am #1489Glenn McCrabbParticipantSuch a pity I can only choose one thing. I have loved everything about the new Powys this year. I did only vote once and just picked the one thing but I did want to choose three or four things… đ
December 20, 2010 at 4:41 pm #1499Patricia SokolParticipantYes, in the absence of the beloved multiple-multiple ( A & B; A, B, & C; A & D; D only, and so forth) we need the “all of the above” option.

I guess The Return of Powys Itself will have to cover that one…

That’s how I voted. Seemed to cover all the bases! B)

(Powys RULZ!)December 20, 2010 at 7:57 pm #1503Mateo LatosaKeymasterFor me, the missing option (which could only apply to the people behind Powys) would be:
o The ability to SELL books and audios through Lulu.com
It’s made life a lot easier!
December 20, 2010 at 8:23 pm #1504Michael KincaidParticipantMateo,
Could that new annoucement be the stary of preorders for the year one omnibus that would be alovely Christmas gift, visions of year one dancing in my head. đDecember 20, 2010 at 8:39 pm #1505Mateo LatosaKeymasterI can’t tell you what it is, but no, not yet, sorry. But it’s GOOD!

December 20, 2010 at 10:21 pm #1508Ally DaviesParticipanthow can you seriously expect us to pick just ONE…are you guys MAD !!!!!!
Maybe I’ll stage a boycott of this poll… start an uprising… or maybe an Alphan mutiny…
đ :side:  đż just ONE choice :woohoo:   đ
I’ve been really good and tried really hard all year to stick to the ‘one person – one vote’ rule – honestly I have
BUT this is just too much !!
December 21, 2010 at 2:24 am #1511Steve FosterParticipantI’ve voted… just once… but it was a toughie!
The return of Powys Media itself nearly took my vote… but I just had to vote for the new books. I mean… ALPHA, OMEGA, Born for Adversity and Shepherd Moon. All wonderful. I waited years to read them… and they were well worth the wait.
As for ALPHA & OMEGA… can I just re-state for the record, once again, how TOTALLY amazing these two books were! Masterpieces, both of them! Imho the DEFINITIVE explanation of the actions/motivations & effect of the MUF upon the SPACE: 1999 universe(s). Bloody marvellous! B)
All I can say is… Year 3 – BRING IT ON POWYS MEDIA! B) đ

1. Shepherd Moon FINALLY getting released.
2. The Powys Forum â seriously, how much fun has it been? Itâs the ultimate command conference!
3. Realizing that the typo in the url at the end of Omega, and our subsequent posting on how to correct it, actually helped people pursue the puzzle â you canât make this stuff up, itâs mysterious!
4. Ken Scott!
5. Rupert Booth!
6. Seeing the first sales of Alpha happening through the lulu.com web-site
7. Watching Pat Sokol create a lexicon for describing what was happening in the Powys books
8. Procyonstarâs updates on books from order to mailbox to hand to eye to brain to heart â when senility kicks in some day, I hope memories of these updates are some of the last memories to go
9. Getting to talk to Christopher Penfold on the radio â seriously cool
10. The triumphant return of Mateo LatosaItâs been an absolutely amazing year, one that was, ironically, years in the making. This community, and thatâs what it is, has been rewarding beyond belief. We tried to shock and surprise and reward you this year, and youâve done the same to us time and time again.
Weâre grateful to you, not just as customers but increasingly as friends. Mateoâs goal at the very beginning, as stated in his panel back in 2000 or so (or was it 2001?) was to put out literature, not just tie-ins. When we see debate and disagreement going on, we know we succeeded. This stuff is open to interpretation. Say what you will, this is NOT the kind of debate you typically hear in Star Trek â âoh, they rely on tachyon beams too much!â is a very different kind of debate from what we typically hear on the Powys Forum. We really wanted to jump-start your passion again and we feel weâve done that â but youâre the ones keeping it going now.
So, our hats off to you at this year draws to an end. About a year ago, I would imagine many were dubious that anything would actually happen. Well, a lot has happened, and will continue to happen, and your support, your interest, your passion, certainly help to fuel ours. Weâve branched out into some new media this year and will continue to try to stay cutting edge (where licensing permits â no ebooks coming any time soon for that very reason). Weâll also continue to make mistakes, disappoint some, infuriate others, and march to the beat of our own drum because frankly, thatâs all we can do.
Expect the unexpected in the future. Thatâs whatâs at the heart of Space: 1999. We donât âboldly goâ â we face the unknown with a sense of awe and mystery but most importantly, with a sense of purpose. Itâs the origin story of a people, as Johnny Byrne liked to say, and that story, in case you havenât noticed, didnât end in the 1970s. Weâll fill in more missing pieces but weâll also be heading deeper into the future, one that at times will grow dark. Sometimes, itâll be a bumpy ride, in 2011 and beyond.
Much as one hates to quote from the âotherâ franchise, sometimes, you just canât resist.
Buckle up.
