So apparently bribery won’t get us our reviews up on Amazon. Oh, well.
I’m working hard on The Final Revolution — I’d say it’s somewhere in the halfway done range. Many Alphans have white hair in this book!
You’ll see a new part of the base in this book.
I think it’s safe to say that all of the trials and tribulations we’ve put poor Helena Russell through in the book series will come to fruition in this book — she’s getting some seriously great lines in this book. She even made the author’s eyes well up once (not making that up), and it wasn’t even over a particularly eventful thing — she just made an awesome observation.
I’ve genre-hopped with the books I’ve done in this series — horror, fantasy, science fiction. This one has elements of space opera (but it’s also got some slightly scary bits, definitely some science fiction).
In one particular area, Koenig (and Helena) should have listened to Balor more closely.
Bergman and Maya bicker at each other — they kind of chose their working relationship and it’s fun to watch. Not what I would have expected.
Anyway, I know everybody’s chomping at the bit — don’t have any updates on Black Doves right now. Final Revolution (I’m hoping) will be out before the end of the year. This is not a heavy continuity book (other than you need to know all these characters we’ve introduced fairly well) but it’s a big story (no, there’s no cliffhanger ending for this story). Sorry to keep it so cryptic but we do still like to surprise you.
Regards,
BL
P.S. I am Groot.
September 3, 2014 at 3:49 pm #3134Scott LindvallParticipantHowdy Bill. Thanks for the update. As always, I’m looking forward to your new book(s). I’m not sure how many people will read this though. There’s not been any activity on this site in quite a while, and most folks are getting their Space: 1999 fix over on Facebook. I only happened on this by pure chance… I rarely check in here anymore, maybe a couple of times a month. You ought to consider signing up for Facebook. The whole gang is present and accounted for: Mateo, Patricia, Ken, Glenn, Ally, et al. If you do join, send me a friend request so I can keep up with you. (That goes for any other Powys buddies… just search for Scott Lindvall.)
September 5, 2014 at 1:32 am #3135Glenn McCrabbParticipantThanks Bill, always enjoy an update on the Powys site. Unlike everyone else, I check in every day (not really sure why) but it is a habit I’ve gotten into and will probably stick with. Glad to see you visiting new areas of Alpha, that was what I liked about the original non-episode novels of first season, they always had new sections of the base for my imagination to explore. Keep up the good work buddy. π
September 6, 2014 at 12:18 am #3136Steve FosterParticipantAt last! Some news! π
I must admit, I only check the website once or twice a month now, rarely expecting there to be any news or anything. But that doesn’t stop me checking… π
Excited about “The Final Revolution”. A new Bill Latham SPACE: 1999 novel in the works is always something to get excited about… dissapointed that there’s no news re: “Black Doves” though. Intrigued about this one as it’s written by a woman &, like Pat Sokol’s Powysverse Compendium proved, a woman’s take on the characters and situations presented in both the filmed and written world of SPACE: 1999 can be just as fascinating and eye opening as the males (if not more so!).
SO grateful for the update. Thanks Bill
September 6, 2014 at 4:50 am #3137ClaytonParticipantI also recall that the Powys Facebook page promised the Year One compendium this year. Only a few months left! Is it still coming?
September 6, 2014 at 8:18 pm #3138William LathamKeymasterFacebook’s nice (I set up the original page!) but not my cup of tea — I’d rather spend my time writing books! Putting stuff up here gives people a reason on the Facebook page to say hey, go check out the Powys site. It’s the best of both worlds.
Don’t know about the current state of the Omnibus. I’m trying to be writer this year, not publisher (which is a nice way for me to say go bother the other guy on Facebook!) π
And Steve F., don’t forget Emma Burrows’ great contribution in Shepherd Moon!
I’ll offer one little tidbit from the book. And this is pretty much the ONLY appearance in the book by this character:
Elsewhere, what had once been David Kano felt something slip away from whatever part of him could grip things.
βTheyβre gone,β he said. βMy friends are gone.βThat’s NOT from the end of the book, so don’t worry that much.
But worry anyway…πΏ
September 7, 2014 at 5:25 pm #3139Patrick ZimmermanParticipantthanks for the mini-update Bill.
I was hoping the Amazon review bribe would work too – but this shouldn’t stop anyone. Get those reviews for Shepherd Moon up on Amazon folks!
Similar to Zack, I check here most every day for small updates such as this, but always hold my breath waiting to see if there is a big update and a book is ready to order.I also keep checking to see the forum features are enabled at some point. It’d be nice to get our avatar pictures back up.
.. or be able to fix the broken website link in my signatureSeptember 7, 2014 at 8:16 pm #3140Scott LindvallParticipantNow this is what I like to see on this forum. This is the most activity we’ve had here in more than a year… all in just a week. I long for the old days (of a couple of years ago), when there were several threads going at once and something new to read practically every day.
Bill, I get your reasoning for wanting to avoid Facebook. I find it fun and entertaining, but sometimes it provides waayyy more stuff than I want and I do tend to spend too much time on it. But it does allow me to follow several of my passions besides Space: 1999, and keep up with some friends and relatives with whom I would otherwise have very little contact.
But thank you for the little tidbits and hints of what’s coming in the Powysverse. I’m anxiously awaiting any and all new books. And thanks, also, to everyone who responded this last week, proving to me that there is still a spark of life on this forum. I’d love to see some new threads and discussions here. Ciao!
September 8, 2014 at 9:33 pm #3141Patricia SokolParticipantThanks for the update, Bill!
Kudos to Powys and its connections for getting BB to write a foreword. She surely must realize that the folks who matter (that would be US – the fans) appreciate her character interpretation, haters be dragon food.
September 9, 2014 at 7:19 am #3142William LathamKeymasterIf we can get Simon Morris to post up here, it’ll be like the gang’s all here. Procyonstar, are you there?
Ultra, I’m able to update my avatar — can you try again? Once you upload the picture, just Save. It’s not the most intuitive interface unfortunately. And make sure you don’t pick a picture from the gallery. Also, the URL in your signature leads to a dead link — if there’s a different URL you want, post it up here and I can update your signature for you.
Mrs. Sokol, I should have some reading material for you in the not too distant future! I haven’t sent you anything since that draft of “Eternity Unhinged”. Oh, wait, that’s not supposed to exist. My bad.

September 9, 2014 at 4:11 pm #3143Patricia SokolParticipant“Eternity Unhinged”? I haven’t a clue. Must be a figment of your imagination. A bit of an undone potato.
Procyonstar is the Hospitality Queen at UK Chrysalis.
Apparently your fellow Nutmegger is on his way for the week-end also. Have fun, kids! :silly:September 10, 2014 at 4:43 am #3144Patrick ZimmermanParticipant
the problem I’m seeing is that there are no options to modify *anything* on the Profile page.
No options to update the avatar.
No options to update the signature.
etc.
I’m thinking maybe as admin you have the options, but the rest of us don’t?my URL in the sig. broke after Martin Wiley updated the Catacombs awhile back.
my webpage is now: mondstation.space1999.netthanks!
September 10, 2014 at 6:44 am #3145William LathamKeymasterOkay, I fixed the link for you (that seems to work now). When you’re in the forum and you click the Profile tab (do you see that?), you should see an Edit link all the way to right, typically in red. Firefox seems to be spotty — IE seems to work fine.

No joy, I’m afraid. I can’t find a link or any other way to add a picture to my profile. Not a huge deal, I suppose, but still slightly annoying. :S
Anyway…. big con in the UK this weekend. That will be fun, I’m sure, but unfortunately I cannot be there. Visiting England is VERY high on my and my wife’s list of vacations, but my son decided he wanted to get married next year in Washington state, so our time (and, of course, money) are pretty much spoken for until after that. Is anyone else stateside going to the convention? If so, please send us updates so the rest of us can live vicariously through you. Enjoy…. π

thanks for fixing the link!
I’ll attempt to attach a pic, showing the lack of Edit buttons, but as I mentioned before, there does not appear to be anything available on the Profile page for modification. I checked in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.
Looks like the attaching works. that’s cool.
I’ll attempt to embed the image as well
