Now there’s a title for a Thread! 😉

The Year 2 Omnibus is very good at mentioning prior events from Year 1, allowing for a greater sense of continuity between these 2 very different seasons. Other nods to past continuity that I would like to read about in future Year 3 novels:

    – An update on how Carolyn Powell is progressing in terms of her therapy and recovery. Is she walking yet? Is she wheelchair bound? Has she regained her speech? How old is she mentally now? A brief scene with Helena calling in to see her and her carer/therapist would be wonderful.

    – Another scene with Bill & Annette Fraser would be nice. Even if it’s a brief, playful scene of them starting the day together in their quarters, laughing and flirting with each other. It’d be nice to see Alpha’s other major couple (outside of Koenig/Russell & Maya/Verdeschi) enjoying a little onscreen time in future novels (it was nice to see Annie being mentioned in ALPHA). It would also be quite refreshing to contrast the Fraser’s with the 2 main couples, in that Koenig/Rusell & Maya/Verdeschi (who have been/are going through a steep arc of character development which is both VERY WELCOME and very satisfying to read!) have got a lot on their plates but Bill & Annie are actually just very happy & very much in love. Amidst all the drama, it would be nice to affirm that in the context of the SPACE: 1999 Powysverse Year 3 set up, there are people on Alpha who are actually just really sorted and happy together. What can I say? I just love the Frasers! 😉

    – Eva Zoref & Cynthia Crawford: Alpha’s 2 most prominent widows. Pat Sokol has made some very interesting observations about Mrs Crawford in the Powysverse Compendium. It’d be nice to follow up on those and try to bring Sue into future stories in some way. How’s Julia vale these days? She’s not been mentioned since the brilliant Year 1 short story “Remembering Julia” in Shepherd Moon. Then there’s Sanderson’s girlfriend/partner Eva from The Seance Spectre . Maybe there’s a “Widow’s Anonymous” group on Alpha. I know it sounds funny, but there must be some mechanism in place to help and support these women as they come to terms with their grief and adjust to their daily lives without their partners on Alpha now that their spouses have passed away. A short story about these women coming together, talking about their feelings and supporting each other through their losses and perhaps being there for each other would be a marvellous and very positive thing to read.

Does anybody have any thought on this?
