For anybody who wants to hear yours truly playing John Koenig and radio great Howard Margolin playing another Koenig, tune in to Destinies: The Voice of Science Fiction this coming Friday night at 11:30 PM EST.

That’s only for five minutes. The rest of the time I”ll be telling stories about Mateo from high school. Or talking about books or Space:1999 or something.

By the way, how cool is it when Hulk gets his hands on Loki?

As much as I love to be embarassed on the radio–just kidding, the play, Soldaderas, written by Ruben Amavizca-Murua and featuring music by TKU (me and Cesar Gallegos) is opening at the same time at the Frida Kahlo Theater in L.A.

So if you’re not listening to Bill on Destinies, you can always fly to L.A. and watch the play with me, albeit performed entirely in Spanish. No? That’s okay, the score will be up on iTunes (etc.) by next week.

Seriously, I am bummed that I’m going to miss Bill’s interview!

11.30 PM…. Might just be a little early for me, or late… My brain can’t do working out time kinda stuff… What time is that in real time? I mean Australian, eastern standard time of course, but surely the most sensible time to live in. 🙂
I will try to tune in if I can work out the celestial mechanics of it all.

Fortunately the good folks at Destinies have the foresight to make their shows available for downloading, for those of us who are unable to stay awake until airtime – regardless of how exciting the guest may be. Just go to the Destinies website in a few days & it’ll be there.

You mean clocks don’t run counter-clockwise in Australia? 😛

    Howdy Space fans!

I am in the process of uploading the show Bill was on right now, expect an MP3 link in about an hour or so. Bill did an awesome job last night on Destinies, I listened live over the air!

Bill and Mateo sorry I have been MIA lately, I’ve gotten some bad news at work, I am being involuntary transferred which is bad because I’m being moved from the type of kids I’ve taught for 20 years to another population that I don’t know a lot about.

That’s in a nutshell. Mateo wrote music for those kids, SAMOSET….if you ever want t look it up. It looks like those days are coming to a close.

Anyway, next September I’m guessing I’ll have a lot more free time for FANAC so maybe I can make it to one of those POWYSCON East thingys!

Look for the show in an hour!

Live telephone interview with author William Latham, making his third appearance on the show, who discusses his “Space: 1999” novels “Omega” and “Alpha,” as well as his memoir of writing the duology, “Chasing the Cyclops.” Features a reading from “Space: 1999-Alpha” by William Latham and host Howard Margolin.

You Da Man, as always, Phil — sorry to hear they’re moving you — not the best time to be a teacher. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Phil Merkel — he rocks.

Thanks for posting the program, Phil. You made it so easy for all of us Powysverse fans to “tune in.” And Bill, terrific interview. I found it to be time well spent.

By the way, Bill (and Pat), I’m still looking forward to next month’s PowysCon East. It will be one of the highlights of my New York vacation (along with front row seats to “War Horse” at the Lincoln Center). It will be awesome to meet everyone who will be there. Be sure to let us know where and when…

Bill we have to get together sometime this summer! Let me know your work schedule. I’ve been hanging out on and off in the city lately (The living room, Rockwood Music Hall) and would love to chat sometime this summer!

Listening to the interview now. It’s extremely exciting! I love the fact that Bill sounds like the Hal 9000 Computer from 2001 whever he tries to voice the MUF in his OMEGA/ALPHA reading.

Enjoyed listening to this whilst sat in my room in the UK, sipping a glass of wine 😉

Gratifying to hear such diverse influences as the mythic DC Comic’s 12 part maxi series “Crisis on Infinite Earth’s” (first published in 1985 & early 1986) being mentioned.

Looking forward (with an increasingly desperate sense of longing!) to the release of “Phoenix of Megaron”, “The Whispering Sea”, “Children of the Gods”, “Prodigal Moon”, “The Final Revolution” & “Odysseus Wept” (intrigued to hear that Bill will be writing this with another, secret, undisclosed co-author – I’m guessing Christopher Penfold or John-Kenneth Muir!).

Great interview! Thanks very much to Phil for posting a Link to this so that myself & others could enjoy listening this B)

Oh & btw, Bill Latham rocks! :silly:
