Thought people might be interested in hearing some rumours about Space 1999 comic books.
First off from BLAM Ventures Facebook site :
“SPACE:1999 comic and digital media series – press release coming soon! S:99 AFTERSHOCK comic miniseries release this Summer. S:99 ARCHIVES: DIRECTOR’S CUT- reprinted, restored and renewed classic comics, many in color for the first time and with new story elements, is due out this Fall. THe follow up series to AFTERSHOCK, the S:99 ALPHAPROBE digital comic series, will be available on comic download websites by the end of this year. Also, quarter releases of S:99 art print limited editions begins this Spring! Expect three this year”
The “classic comics” are apparently of the Charlton comics series.
I can’t tell from the statement above whether the new comic series is a physical publication or an online thing. Then there’s this listing at Amazon UK :
The publisher Reynolds and Hearn is now defunct but they published several volumes of reprints of Gerry Anderson comic strips before going out of business.
Speculation – this might have been intended as a collection of strips from “Look-In” magazine in the UK ? Maybe this title might get picked up by another publisher. (The Century 21 reprints are apparently continuing under another publisher.)February 21, 2011 at 5:30 am #2009ClaytonParticipantI’m glad to hear of new and reprinted Space: 1999 comics. Only thing is, I’ve been following BLAM’s S:1999 announcements for a while now and they’ve been promising publications for a few years now and they never arise. Hopefully they’ve finally got it all ironed out. Here’s their website: BLAM Ventures.

(but pre-ordered anyway)July 12, 2012 at 4:09 pm #2666Scott LindvallParticipantA very nice looking hardcover graphic novel is being released in November (fingers crossed that it will be out on time) that contains two stories: “Aftershock” and “Awe.” “Awe” retells and expands on the original episode “Breakaway,” told through logs of Victor Bergman and John Koenig. The free preview currently online has the first several pages of that story. The other story, “Aftershock,” is an original story about the effects of the moon’s breakaway on those people left behind on Earth.
The book is currently available for pre-order on Amazon for the amazingly low price of only $11.27. Use the following link to go there and order a copy:
It’s not a Powys release, but the Space: 1999 universe is big enough for other interpretations, and this is also a fully licensed book. This is another great way to continue to show support for our show. And by the way, the introduction is written by Powys author John Kenneth Muir.
