We’re pleased to announce the release of Space:1999 Shepherd Moon. A link will be appearing tonight to allow you to order the book.

Powys Media has decided to migrate our production to print on demand via lulu.com, one of the most respected print on demand services in the industry. Our primary reasons for doing this were to simplify the release of our books (which is why we’re going to be able to release so many different titles over a small period of time. lulu.com will actually send you the books you order, not us, so any delays between your order and receipt of the book should be greatly minimized.

Moving to print on demand has come at a cost. The price of our books has regrettably risen (considering that we haven’t raised the prices on our books in the past eight years when most other companies have should be an indicator of how much we didn’t want to raise prices). We were unable to charge less than $20.00 for the new printings due to pricing restrictions enforced by the print on demand service, primarily so they can recoup their own costs of printing.

We are planning on reprinting our out-of-print titles through lulu.com as well, just to make them available again. We’re aware of the frighteningly high prices people are charging for used copies (for which we make no additional revenue).

The titles will initially be available exclusively through this web-site. Eventually, the books will be distributed through other venues like amazon.com — the profitability of these books is greatly influenced by how and where you purchase it — this is the primary reason for the intentional delay in releasing through other channels.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter. If it were up to us, we would not have raised the prices. But we’re confident that we’ll be able to offer better service to our readers through this move.
