I finished my first editing pass today. This entailed reading the book and noting down places where edits might be made. Today I finished the final three chapters. I’ll be discussing my ideas with John Mason over the holidays.

Most of the edits will be along the lines of:

    R+A NOT S-I-A-T
    K-I-S-S-I-N-G

    Mateo 😛

I remember when I read this book earlier in the year wondering about all of the things that didn’t fit the 1999 universe let alone the Powysverse. I kept wondering about each and every variation thinking, “Mateo’s going to have his work cut out for him here.”

As the book was published in 1976, I don’t think it is a spoiler to say that in the original book, Rhoda and Alan fall in love and Rhoda goes to live on Alpha at the end of book. Sometimes, changes are necessary.

John Mason and I have just begun discussing Phoenix of Megaron (hereafter on this thread: PoM). We’re just exchanging first impressions and thoughts at this point. I have detailed notes that I will share with him over the course of the week. Today, however I am working on The Forsaken for its forthcoming reissue.

PoM is one of my favorites. Just the right balance between righteousness indignation and “Oh crap, what have we gotten ourselves into this time?” Plus, Helena shows she knows her way around an organic chemistry lab.

For now, bask in the beauty of the Android Planet cover. Once we have all our ducks in a row, then we’ll share the cover for Phoenix. We’ve just sent the cover off for approval!
